...by all of the people doing this and having success with it. It's something I'd have never considered in the past but now I'm not so sure. But I'm still a bit concerned. How aggressively can you ride with a car tire back there? I come from a sportbike background and one of the things I really love about the Valk is the light handling for a bike it's size. I also like to light up the back tire a little bit when coming out of corners. Is it really safe to push the bike hard? It would certainly be a lot less expensive to be able to make the leap.

TA, I am not that aggressive rider, only scrapped pegs once on Valk.  But there are several riders here that regularly have had to replace their foot pegs/floor boards that have CT on the rear.

I am sure they will chime in with their stories.

The CT will allow you to drag pegs all the time.  It requires a little more countersteer.  It lasts 2-4 times longer than mc.  I really like mine.  General Altimax 205-60-16.

How does having a passenger and extra weight on the rear affect things? And how about quick transitions from side to side? I'm sure that grip while leaned over is good, I mean the Valk has pretty good ground clearance for its size but it's still limited.

You have a larger contact patch at all times, so grip is better. Wet grip is MUCH better from my experiences. I've had my IS over far enough to catch my highway pegs on the pavement, so the CT definitely doesn't let go.

Riding with a passenger is no different with a CT than with a MT. "Flickability" is about the same, I think.

You might as well try it out. Even if you end up not liking the CT, you're not out all that much money and could probably resell the tire.

Okay, thanks for the opinions. I'm gonna give it some serious consideration because I'm gonna need a rear tire soon.

Just a curiousity - How much time have you spent on "sporty" type bikes or sport oriented bikes? Such as VFR, Triumph Speed triple, RC51? Just curious as to your riding background. - I think everybodys feedback is relative to their experience.

I've never ridden a sport bike, just cruisers and lots of dirt bikes.

I've ridden lots of sport bikes and owned a Ninja for 7 years. I've run  car tires on the Valk for the past 61,000 miles.
