...okay, so I did a search of this site and didn't come up with anything and I looked around on the web with essentially the same result so I figured I'd just ask you folks. Does anyone know of a kit to clean up the license plate/rear turn signal area? That big honkin' hunk of hanger has to go. But from the looks of things I'm probably gonna have to break out the die grinder.

Here is what I did,
I bought a led license plate frame that goes on with the brake light, the turn signals in the bags are led running lights and turn only. The license plate was mounted with two carrage (sp?) bolts through the fender in the normal mounting holes, in order to stand off the top a little bit to straighten it up, I cut some rubber fuel line and placed it under the plate and above the fender, it took a little time to get the length right, but it bellowed out nicely.
edit:
Now that I think about it, I mounted the license plate bracket to a aluminum plate that was bolted through the original holes with the rubber fuel line...

Jim, first of all I really like what you've done with your bike. The batwing, the primer and the tail mod. I was thinking to myself today that if I had hard bags (and may someday in the future) that I would mount the signals there. I also love the whitewalls. I'm not sure how they'd look on my 97 red/white but I might have to find out.

"Clear Alternatives" makes an LED array that has running, brake, and turn signals on one board that fits into the stock tailight assembly. However you must use their clear or smoke tinted tailight lens.

That bike looks terrific. How's the visibility with that setup though?

I used the smoked lens, but the clear lens would have better visability.
The smoked lens worked better with the "Rat Rod" theme, and I understand that it is not for everyone.

I bought an LED from Clear Alternatives, and my stock tail light lens worked just fine. Smiley

With the turn signals integrated into the the tail light, you probably do need something other than red. If you're looking for a brighter tail light only, the stock would work fine.
