OK, here's the mileage story.  When Volkswagens first came to the US, there was no gas gauge, just a reserve switch like motorcycles.  In the 1950's my Father-in law had a co-worker with one of these early VW's.  The man liked it because it was stingy on gas.  Well ol' Pop and his pals used to keep a spare gas can in the trunk of their cars.  Every now and then they would secretly pour a little gas into this VW.

After a month, they asked the owner "Hey Roy, what kind of mileage do you get from that VW car?"  He said "Fellas, you won't believe it, but a little better than 97 miles per gallon."

This has nothing to do with motorcycles, but I figured you guys needed a laugh.

I get about 20 miles more before hitting reserve on my stock 97, than on my 97 with Cobra Boulevards and needles on the top notch. If I put in the bigger main jets that it really needs, presumably the difference would be greater.
We're paying $6.40 a US gallon for 95 RON unleaded with 5% ethanol in the UK right now.

I do love the sound of the cobras, with baffles in I have the choice of where and when to be loud.
