I will be riding from NY

Possibly stop in michigan then over UP to Eau Claire and ride out with Alph and Nitro

From there I will continue west to seattle, going thru Beartooth and LoloPass past Mt Hood to Portland

Its more fun when its not a straight line   : )

would love to ride out with you, you can return with Nitro and Alph they live in Wisconsin like you

OP question.  Radio lost electricity.  Loose ground, loose connection.  Check battery terminals, and clean and tighten.  Some report that their dash does that when the battery is dying. Antenna.  Lots of things.  If battery is old, try changing it out.

Also, check the main connector for the radio. They get corroded.

Hi,

If it were a battery connection wouldn't that kill the whole bike not just the radio?
This happened while being driven and the only thing affected was the radio?

I am going by what others have reported on their IS's.  They say as battery dies, their radio and then their dash display go out, then in a bit the bike dies.  Seems like the voltage requirement is higher for the displays.

I had run down the battery some on my IS, it started, and my headlights did not come on in the garage.  I thought for a few seconds that my headlight bulbs, 2 on IS, had burned out.  After about 10 seconds, they came on.  Needed to put some juice in the battery to get the relay to work I guess.

Hi,

He stated that 5 miles into a 35 mile ride the radio went out.
I just feel, if it were the battery connection, the bike would have died shortly there after, or the radio would not have worked from the get go.
The bike started, went out for the ride. During the rainy ride the radio goes out then comes back on. Rain probably stopped, finishes the ride
Just my opinion, but I think it would have more to do with the rain than the battery for this instance. Check the radio connections.
