Haven't looked at it yet but I'm hoping that one can switch out the standard one piece interstate seat with a two piece setup from a standard or tourer model. I need a backrest on the Interstate - easy to do?
TIA See ya in PDC

I believe they can be changed, however I would think that the rear of the passenger fits different. I think to put a std pass seat on, you would need to drill one hole to mount the rear of the pass. seat. I think a std rider seat will fit right on. You can add a backrest to an IS seat too. You put it right thru the top of the IS seat and then fix the vinyl.
See you at PDC!

I have a Mustang seat on my Interstate that was originally on my Tourer (same seat as standard) It fits with no real problems. The hole that MP talks about is already there, so it will bolt right on. Getting that bolt started can be trying as the trunk sits above it, but it can be done without removing the trunk. The only issue is the size of the gastank, the front of the seat squishes just a little bit as you lock it into place, but you would never know it to look at it.

I think the important question is: when did you get an Interstate?? Did you buy Scottie's?

And yes Nitro I did buy Scotty's "01" Interstate in July. Still have the "98" Tourer but I will be forced to sell it to help finance the new one. Love the Interstate, love the Tourer too, both are mighty mighty fine machines...........

I've got the same back-rest as Nitro. Actually, I think it was on his recommendation I got it! I put it through a Mustang seat, just like Grey is talking about. Works good.
