I ride my Valk for the ride, not the mileage.

Over the years I have owned my Valkyrie, 1998, the mileage has varied widely.  It seems to be the type and brand of petrol you buy and the weather more than anything.  Speed matters some but not always, I have gotten really good mileage at higher speeds when the wind is low and alot worse when cross winds and head on winds prevailed.  Head winds will kill your mileage, anyone know that and side winds not much better.  LIke MP says the drag will kill ya more than anything.  I buy BP to grade at times and get really good mileage compared to lower grade.  In Wis and IA I get top grade Kwik Trip gas and get excellent mileage both in my bike and car so sometimes its the brand of gas that makes the difference.  But when you have 6 carbs you are not going to get really good mpg anyone knows that or should anyways.

So do I, otherwise it'd be, as they say 'Goin down de road'.

If I don't like a bike, I won't keep it. That's the case with our 2009 Concours 1400, it has just enough things about it that annoy me to overcome the good stuff, so it's going to be sold.

The Valkyrie has a very short 'negatives' column, in fact, the fuel mileage is just about the only thing on it as far as I'm concerned, so it stays....at least until I might decide to sell it out of nothing more than a desire to buy something else and can't afford, or want to keep all our bikes (we currently have five).

There are very few bikes I would even consider sacrificing the Honda for if I couldn't swing a deal otherwise.....though a minty, used, Rocket III might be able to do it if I get impatient..I am going to eventually own one of those things.

You should talk to Turnboy John. He both the Valkyrie Interstate as well as a Rocket 3. Just don't try to keep up with him as he's one excellent rider.

Turnboy sold his and another one of our friends sold his too.  Lots of issues with that bike and go thru tires like crazy.  Hard to get worked on if out traveling as hardly any dealers to service them.  They both went back to Honda's, Valk Interstate and a Goldwing.
