Weather follks claim we are due for another colder/snowier winter than normal.. Just like last year. If that was bad, I can live with it (it was my first winter in K'Falls). I only had a 3 week period where I couldn't go for a ride. AND the snow stayed where it is suppose to be, 500' higher in elevation from where I live. Fall has been great so far. We reverted from cold/wet (snow) several weeks ago to slightly warmer and drier than normal. Just right for rides.

So cold out going home at 11 p.m. that my turn signals didn't work, near froze up being 35 degrees out. Had to drive 50 mph all the way home a few times the old teeth were chattering - - brrrr!
After about 15 miles, tried the turn signals again and the left one worked but the right one did not until a few more right turns in town. First time ever had issues with turn signals freezing up, but then again I haven't driven cycle ever being 35 degrees at night. Sucks, my riding days this year are about done guessing just a few more days in November probably.

I had the same problem last year on my long commute any time it was below freezing in the morning. I took the turn signal housing apart, cleaned up the turn signal switch, and re-greased everything. I had zero problems with it after that. You probably have a bunch of built up "gunk" in there that's causing the problem. I was amazed at how much black, sticky crap came out of mine.

Put the bike away for winter yesterday. The hwy. dept. layed down salt brine last night on the bridge, curves and intersections around here. My trail snowmobiles are ready to go, however the 2 race sleds need a little work. TrickyD

88*, sunshine, and very little wind here today. Rode about 150 miles.
Valker, that is enough out of you about your weather. Currently 42* and rain, with a winter storm watch in effect from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM Wednesday.

Supposed to be 60 and sunny tomorrow. Think I am gonna hit the bike tomorrow. Wish I had somewhere I had to go, so I could get paid for the ride!

I'm still hoping for that warm Thanksgiving weekend for 1 more ride, but really should put it up now if I can find time first to wash the bike and change oil so I can put the truck in the garage since scrapping now almost every morning is a pain in the _utt! I also heard long, cold winter, but nothing new really I hope. I always procrastinate thinking it can be done later and then all of a sudden it is past ideal conditions to actually get what has to be done that I should have done months ago.

wish riding was 300 days per year, lucky if we get over 1/2 year riding season in unless feel like riding in heavy rain, etc. Just picked up today my Amsoil 10w-40 cycle oil and Amsoil 75W-90 rear gearcase oil. My local Amsoil dealer received 2 price increase from Amsoil oil in 2011 and instead of 9 bucks per quart last year is now 10 bucks per quart, cheapest Amsoil dealer around still but getting a tad too expensive in my book. Cut back on not getting my 15 dollar K&N oil filter KN303 and instead went with 7.50 Hi Flo HF303 oil filter. The 2 oil filters look identical except with no nut on hi-flo. Read up on internet that hi-flo actually makes some if not all K&N oil filters just without the nut on the end for easier removal. For 1/2 price, I'll take my chances. Might have to consider next year going with 15w-40 Rotella T cycle oil in 4-5 qt. jugs at Walmart if the price continues to go up next year yet again. Heard good things from others on synthetic Rotella T oil so might consider the switch?
Now just have to get both oils changed and washed/waxed but was warm enough today being 55 out to take cycle out for a spin. Sure did see a few cycles around for a few more times out this year. I still can't seem to find the desire to put the bike away for the winter even though my garage is still a mess and running out of days above 50 out very soon.

Between the Valk and snowmobiles{3 trail sleds and 2 vintage race sleds), I'm riding close to that per year! Still looking to meet ya in Keystone next June!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like it will be in the 50's again this coming weekend so I may give it a go again. Poor valk and 1800 are winterized and in the trailer but I have the Stealth11 armed and ready. I would like to have snowmobiles again but our winters are so short and snowfall so unpredictable it just doesn't justify the expense. I sure enjoyed time on those sleds though.

agree, hard to justify spending money on something like a snowmobile used for 2 of the 4 months of winter we have enough snow around southern WI to ride. If the trails were out my backyard, that may be a different story instead of having to go way up north and trailer for 3-5 hours to get where more snow is. I wish some of the snowmobile trails around here would open up for ATV's during winter use, but I understand 1 idiot on an ATV will ruin it for all others driving an ATV normal which is they way the snowmobile clubs see it. I see both sides of the situation, but wish the snowmobile clubs would try it for 1 season or until something an ATVer does to ruin it for others to use. That is just me and I know the hard core snowmobilers do not see it that way.

Your right and I feel the same way. We have to trailer up north or if we are lucky they get snow by Houston and Caledonia but otherwise they sit on the trailer.
ATV trails would be nice but the ATV's do cause a lot of problems with ruts etc. Heck around here you can't even snow shoe on some trails as the cross country skiers have banished walking or snow shoeing on the trails. I would be open for some leniency on some of the restrictions.
