1999 Valyrie Reverse Trike

« on: October 23, 2011, 11:35:39 AM »

First off this is my second Valkyrie and I just love these things. Although I have a GL1800 also I am relatively unnoticed on the wing. It's just a big red thing.

However the Valkyrie is a different breed. Even in stock form they attract more attention than most other bikes. Most people want to know it that's a car motor?

Anyway I triked mine and I just can't believe how much I have gotten to enjoy this conversion. I think where I ride and on what surfaces has much to do with it.
Normally in the summer I pull my trailer which has golf clubs, fly rods and back pack.

The video is taken while holding the phone in my left hand and shifting clutchless - I do the clutchless a lot just out of habit.
Oh I forgot - these bikes really sound great too  Smiley

Can you share more about your conversion? What kit did you use? Did you do the work? Thanks for sharing!

That's a great trike and much kudos to you on the ingenuity of your build. It's so easy (if you have the money) to throw big bucks at trike conversions and end up with a horror.
Trikes are very popular here in the UK, despite the weather and the traffic, and my personal preference (although I'm very happy on my 2 wheeled Valks) is for the "reverse" set up that you have built.
I see the way three wheeler friends who look at my bikes start thinking "Hmmm. perfect donor bike...."
I put them off, too juicy, no reverse, etc. as there are precious few Valks around over here as it is! (Both mine came from the US privately.)
I have far less "Is it a Harley?" on a Valk than I do on my VLX600 Shadow, "Yes it is a Harley, only built for the Japanese market"  Grin
Talking of HD's, and not wishing to hijack your thread, the only one that I would be remotely interested in owning would be a trike that they lost their nerve on, and never built, the Penster..
Trike on!  cool
