Hi,
Can you tighten up the head bearings on an interstate without removing the front fairing? I don't think I could even get it off if I tried.

I don't know the answer to your question, but the fairing is an easy job, provided that your grommets don't spin in the fairing. That makes the whole job 100% worse.

I don't know the answer to your question, but the fairing is an easy job, provided that your grommets don't spin in the fairing. That makes the whole job 100% worse. Exactly. In fact, everyone should take theirs off every year or two, just to keep the screws from setting in too much. Use antiseize on them, and do NOT overtighten! MP

Hi,
I tried once to put new speakers in the front fairing and the nuts spun. Thus me thinking that I would not be able to take it off without it being a real pain. Not relly worth it to try untill I HAVE to take it off.

Not to change subject, but I know my I/S has a few loose or more like broken retainer clips, etc. inside the fairing because I can hear them inside rattling/rolling around and my I/S fairing does jiggle/squeak over bumps. So I really should attempt to take the fairing off in the spring to attempt to NOT make it any worse. While off, I should just replace the mediocre at best OEM front speakers with upgraded speakers. I also get the front steering handlebar wobble at lower speeds (40 mph on down to 15 or so) mostly while slowing down but not any problems turning at parking lot speeds.

Hi,
So as I understand it when one has a "turning nut", you have to pop off the plastic around the nut then when it is all apart you epoxy them back in? When you unsrew the bolt you gently pry under the head with a screwdriver till the plastic around the nut gives.
1. Who has done this? 2. How long does it last? 3. What kind of epoxy did you use?

Tapered bearings is the way to fix steering wobble IMO. Bad tires can accentuate a bad steering design flaw. VTX's can "tank slap" just like newer GW's because of balls in the steering head.  You would think Honda would have carried forward the good thing they had going with the Valk's and GW 15's steering design, not discounting Bone's concern of course.

Sure hope as many riders as possible can make it to Keystone for the Reunion! Valker puts on an incredible demo of slow speed turning. Have to see it and it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't need the class, found it much better learning experience to just fall off the bike. Has made me much more attentive in slow speed maneuvers. HAHAHA
