 rolleyes

I purchased my '01 Valk a year ago.  It is a standard, but the previous owner bolted on every aftermarket item with junk chrome he could find.  I'm trying to clean it up because I prefer the simple lines of the bike and almost every accessory item is rusting or corroding.  First to be removed is the Cobra light bar.  Seems reasonable, right?  I don't have the original signals but want to install a clean, LED bullet type of signal on the upper fork tubes where the original signals were.  Fine!  How?  I've looked everywhere for a measurement so as to know what size the clamp must be, but can't find the diameter of the upper fork listed anywhere.  I looked at the OEM signal two piece clamp, and I could order that, but it would be more than $60 for both and I don't know if they would work with an accessory signal.  I've looked at Show Chrome and Kuryakin LED signal housings but there is very little information that helps in this application.  I am about to chew thru my leash and my wife would not like that at all!

Any help would be appreciated!

Well -- I checked the upper fork on my '99 std with my caliper and I got 55.72 mm - does that help?

Yes, that does help quite a bit.  I just found a site that lists Kuryakyn two piece clamps that fit 54-58mm inverted forks.  That should do the trick.  $65 for the pair, but at least I know they will match up with Kuryakyn Bullets.  Thanks!

I just found what I believe is a better solution all the way around.  Seems the Victory Hammer and Kingpin have 56mm upper fork diameter as well.  I found a great solution on this website : http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.asp?prodid=670399&showprevnext=1

2.25" diameter, Amber LED turn signals/running lights attached to polished aluminum fork clamps.  Great, clean design!  Exactly what I was searching for.  I like that they are 3/4" larger in diameter than the Kuryakyns and I'll end up saving at least $60 by not having to buy the fork clamps separately.

i know how you feel about add ons.  i've made it a point to keep the original OEM parts that i've replaced, mainly 'cause the next owner might want them.  my tastes may not be thiers....

by the way, welcome to the club.

Welcome aboard!  Depending on condition, some of those "junk chrome" pieces, are worth 2-3 times what they were purchased for!  shocked   Cobra light bars being one of them.

Fritz, the light bar's chrome finish is flaking off dramatically.  Nothing structural, but it looks terrible. Like it has mange.   But if you're still interested, I'll send you a pic.
