It is 30 degrees, the grandsons are on the bus,(10,11,12, yeah, I'm raising them) It is 0800 the sun is shining and there is no wind.  Will meet the retired bikers for lunch down in central Kansas.  Have to be back by 1700 to run the oldest to basketball practice.  It will be fun! Yeehaw!   Grin  Hoser

Your a great grandpa running around and taking care of your childrens' kids.  Unlike my situation,  we have had to raise our own kids pretty much 100% by ourselves vs. all the other parents that I know raising kids nowadays have grandma and grandpa taking care of their own children all the time.  Don't get me wrong, I know it is 100% our responsibility to take care of our own children, but some help once or twice a year would  have been nice.  Enjoy the crisp cool air on the bike since I just put mine up 2 days ago finally.  Wish I was in your shoes because not looking forward to my day:  Taking my mom out of hospital, where she got diagnosed last week with Altzheimers, into an assisted living home Drs. say for the rest of her life.  She wants to go back into her own home by herself to live the rest of her life but forgetting to take meds and not eating decent meals just recently has been tough for me to swallow.  I never thought this day would come that my mom would not be able to live at home the rest of her life on her own without severe short term memory loss.  It is going to be real hard for me to deal with seeing her memory slip away slowly and all the money my parents saved up to enjoy in their retirement years will be gone in a matter of a few short years.

Sorry to hijack your post Hoser, however needed to reply to cookiedough. Lost my Mom 6 years ago to alzheimers. Was in a nursing home 4 years after Dad cared for her 3 years at home. It almost killed Dad ,the non-stop care at home. It was really rough on the family seeing her detiorate gradually. Dad died  a year and a half ago from brain and lung cancer. Really understand what you are going through! Felt powerless through both of them. Pray I won't burden my family like that. As for taking the grandkids to a few events, my wife and I feel honored and blessed to spend some time with them ! Only the LORD above knows how much time we have left. Treasure every second!!!!!!!!!!!       TrickyD

Way to go Hoser! I took mine out the day after thanksgiving and I swear it gains another 50 HP when its below 45 degrees out, I don't store mine, I keep it ready just in case the roads are clear and not freezing so I can jump on and clear my head if needed. Our thoughts are with you Cookiedough !

Glad you could get out, hopefully you still have some nice riding before winter sets in. I put mine away on the 25th. It's been warm enough to ride with a heated liner, but they salted all the major roads a week ago.

I feel that in these days of crisis we seem to be enjoying, it is important to sometimes bring the generations together to cope with it.  You do what you have do to preserve your family, no medals needed here.  Tricky,Cookie, I lost my mom to alzhiemer's and know how you feel.  Support her and enjoy her in the times that she is "back", as we used to say.  Hoser

Up here in New England we have had and Extremely mild Nov. I was able to get out last Sat for an all afternoon ride around. It was over 60 degrees out!!! Usuallly it is in the 40's this time of year with many years of snow on the ground.

I doubt I will be on her again until spring, but there has been rideable weather during the winter. So nice to get out one more time.

Ride On,

Today I rode.

Not far, just around the 'hood. It's 20 degrees out and expecting about half a foot of snow tonight. So at least I can say I rode one more time. Not likely to ride any more this year. Happy Holidays folks.  Smiley

I rode for a little over an hour on Wednesday, last day of Nov.  Roads clear (not salt here), sun was shinning, but didn't get over 40 for the day.  Had to try out a new pair of gloves I got, early Christmas present.  If the present High pressure holds for a while should be able to get in some more rides this next week   Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
