get rid of the texting, not the kid nor the bike, problem solved?
Texting on cell phones is a pet peeve of mine and absolutely hate it when kids, even younger adults, are texting as soon as they get into a room or car while driving and ignore everything around them.
I have even told my brothers kid to put the cell phone away or I WILL toss it on the ground and smash it which I will.
My 2 kids when get older will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, get texting on their cell phones if and when they get a cell phone when they get their drivers license.

What I meant was that I was almost killed by a texting teenager in a cage. That came about a week after being one vehicle behind a t-bone collision where a cager blew a stop sign at a 55 mph intersection. If I had left home 20 seconds earlier, I wouldn't be writing this. I know it's a risk we all face as riders, but it has just gotten to the point that my scales tip in favor of discontinuing riding.

IMO, you need to get back on that bike and ride, brother. We are all going to die of something; death is an unavoidable appointment. When the Lord decides its time for you to cross the river - you are going to cross the river, and that is all there is to that. You simply cannot enjoy life fearing the loss of it.

I see both sides of the debate. Only you can decide what is best for YOU. I totally understand your rationale behind your decision though.
I never have been in a serious car or cycle accident and until then I would probably keep on riding until I did get into a vehicle, whether car or cycle, wreck. Then I might change my mind on driving a cycle, just hope that time never comes.

Sweet bike. I just bought a '98 with similar miles. I can't imagine letting it go but yeah there are many crazies out there. If you feel the time is right to get out before anything bad happens then we understand.

Agree, if you feel it is time to not ride anymore, I completely understand. I can tell you after witnessing last week's head on collision at 60 mph that happened behind my house where 1 female was instantly killed and the other still in serious condition, it shakes you up pretty good and reminds me everytime on the roadway to keep my eyes open for anything coming at me whether in vehicle or cycle. It evens is making me drive a bit slower than I normally do just barely 5 mph over the speed limit now!
