Hi to all of you, and sorry to bother with "no Valkyrie issue".
I would appreceate if someone, who is into old cars also, could help us out with this one.

My father inlaw had a 51 Mercury in his barn, and we made a restoration deal with a pro, to bring the car back alive.
Estimated date to be finished in summer 2013, so 1,5 yrs to go.

Now, I do need some parts for it, and I do not have a clue where to find old Mercury parts in USA. I know that model is one of the most customized car there is, so all those needed parts like moldings, switches, rear lamps, door handles etc will lay in many carage shelfs ripped of from an original car, I just need to find some of those places. OR any contacts with possible source of parts.

Now, I do not have some people I know in your country, and those I know does not know much about old cars, but I do hope some of our Valkyrie friends do have at least some connections or hints, so I could find a link to a specific chat forum, website, club, etc, in order to find people who has those parts needed in this project of ours.

So if anyone could help me, with not investing too much efforts, I'd appreceate that a lot.

My plan and hope is to find a contact in USA, so we could fly there and bring some of those smaller parts back to Finland in our suit cases, at the same time we would have a few days holiday and adventure in your country Smiley

Well that "suit case" was more or less a joke, we would gargo them here, but we would fly there, because it's almost 9 years ago I visited your country last time, so I want to be back, and now I would have a good reason for it.

So, if someone has a lead, please post it to me, thanks.
And hey, my facebook profile is here:

Yes, thanks, we have been done that already, a lot. And find some also. But that's not quite practical start to buy parts one by one from Ebay, with individual shipping costs etc. Trying to find a place where is more parts in one place, like a field of barn cars, or people who are into that Mercury model.
But thank you for you input and efforts, thanks, I'll go through those search results.

You could try searching for a salvage yard that specializes in cars from the 1950s. There are tons of yards around here, I would think you could find one with most of what you need.

Ok, thanks you! Yes, the problem in my lousy English, do not know proper words to make searches. So the word is "salvage yard"?
As you can see I really had a reason to ask help from you "locals", because I could'nt even make searches by my own  Smiley

Those terms with historic cars, and with cars generally are not every day language, and that's my main problem.

Thanks,

google  "classic mercury parts", you will see a lot.   This is the king of reproduction parts, 1960's Mustangs.  The reproduce every thing for it.  Not so for the Merc, but you will find some. Here is a nice Merc and my Mustang.  Hoser

You might also Google "Hemmings.com" as they have a lot of antique and classic cars and parts.  They publish a book also, about 2 inches think with auto information/sales/parts, etc.  Good luck with the Merc.  It can be a beautiful classic and does make a great looking custom car.  Sylvester Stalone starred in a move where he drove a customized Mercury 2-door.

Hey my friend, do you have a front end and a rear end shot of your Mercury.

I'm curious as to the year, it doesn't look from the side like my old 51.

Would hate to see ya buy USA parts for a different year than what ya have.

However, it could be a Canadian Mercury.   That is why I'd like to see a front and a rear view.   As close to the car as you can get and still get the whole front and or rear in the picture.

Thanks Brother.

PS: If you can find cars or salvage yards in our desert states, they shouldn't have any rust in them.

Do a Google search using this 'Arizona auto salvage yards'.   You will come up with a bunch of sites.

'New Mexico auto salvage yards'
'Texas auto salvage yards'
'Oklahoma auto salvage yards'

Search also the 3 states listed above.   Just replace Arizona with New Mexico, then try Texas and then try Oklahoma.

That should keep ya occupied for a few minutes.

Good luck in your search(s).

Thanks RJ!

I will search like you advised, thank you, that was just what I needed, because I want to fly there and see/experience those old cars on the yard Smiley

Please check your email, I just sent you some photos, thanks.
