Happy New Year Gang!
I have a few more questions about my Valk that was in a flood. Can you help!
1) Can you clean the lens on the inside of the speedometer and tachometer?
2) Do I need to do any thing with the drive shaft or universal joint.

I have been working on the bike for the last two days, All looks good so far. Here are some pics.

Now that's a labor of love, what a mess!

Do you have a shop manual? That will tell you all you need to know about servicing the final drive. Best of luck to you on rescuing the valk.

I do not have a shop manual. does anyone have one for sale?
I am an electrician by trade and hate working on cars! I however love working on my motorcycles. I have only been riding for six years.
I hope to have this bike running in a few weeks.  LOL

Dat has a pdf version you can download for free on his website. Try looking up valkyrie Norway on Google, his site should show up on top.

Wouldn't know if you need to service the final drive or not. If it were mine, I would tear it down, change fluid and molly the splines. With the final drive out, the shaft can be pulled and inspected. If your upto it, pull the swing arm to check the U-joint. I appreciated the photos, you do have your hands full.  Grin  Keep up the good work!

Don't want to mislead anybody, but my understanding of the Honda Service Manual infers that the swing arm needs to be removed prior to working on the U-joint (see sections 12-3 & 14-10). You might get it out, but I bet it would difficult getting it back in with the swing arm in place.  rolleyes FWIW.

I have taken out and replaced both the ujoints in my two Valks without removing the swingarm.  It is not difficult to do.  I also do NOT remove the exhaust system to remove the rear tire!

That is the main function of the board.  To get info out on shortcuts to the manual, and maintanance tricks.

Don't believe everything you read....lots of us here change our rear tire without removing the exhaust pipes or rear fender section...the manual calls for removing these too.  You have a data base of almost 16 years here and a lot of us have done it all...just ask and we are glad to help with shortcuts.
