I have the opportunity to purchase my first valkyrie. I found a tourer with the 6 in 6 pipes cobra floorboards and an aftermarket windshield (memphis shades) with 30,000 miles. Is this a great price or can I do better? Do yoiu think the prices will go up as spring approaches or down since there will be more bikes on the market.

if that is the mileage and not 130000 why not?

even with 130k its probably a fair price, just getting broken in

see if the owner has service records if he didnt do the work himself

sounds about right, I wouldn't go over 6k even if it had only 15,000 miles on it though.  30K mileage is really just nothing.

I think that $5,680 is a very good price for the tourer.  The hard bags are worth a lot. I have a 98 standard and wouldn't take a penny less than $5k for mine.  Mine is bone stock except for the Memphis Shades windshield and a luggage rack.  40k miles. Smiley  I was in a dealership called Lake Hill Motors in Corinth MS a few months ago and the owner of the dealership told me that a Valkyrie (if properly maintained) would easily go 500k-1,000k miles with no issues.  From that perspective, it really doesn't matter what you pay for it.  You will be able to ride this bike long enough to make that initial investment very minimal.  A Valkyrie is an awesome bike.

A couple quick questions.

1.  You say it is a "tourer".  Why do you say that?  A tourer came with  a Honda windshield, so why does it have a Memphis shades on it?

2.  Does it have hard bags?  You do not say so.  A tourer came with Honda hard bags.

Any pics?

Price is decent.  There are Valks out there with 300, and even over 400,000 miles without major overhauls.  In fact, in over 3 years of ownership, and being a member, I have yet to hear of a Valk that needed an overhaul!

It also depends what you intend to do with the cycle. If you plan on lots of long touring rides, you would be better off holding out for an Interstate. Otherwise I agree with MP's comments.
