Taz, hush up your pie hole.   You will end up waking Mother Nature up and then she will be pi**ed off, and you know what happens then.

Just set back and enjoy the weather....

Was thinking of taking the bike out tomorrow to work being 50 degrees out, but I know with all the salt and crap on the road it would mess up what little chrome I have on the bike.  I have trailered my older, mostly metal ATV on an open trailer with all the road salt gunk a few times the past few years and did not hose the ATV off afterwards due to it being too cold outside to do.  Road grime/salt sure created tons of little rust spots on the metal, especially the all metal floorboards now looking like crap and rusted out big time.  This spring going to have to buy a can of rustoleum, etc. and touch up quite a few areas of rusted metal.  It is frustrating though for the snowmobilers locally and skiers and ice fisherman not being able to get out and enjoy the snow/colder weather.  Ice is at most 4" thick in the bays in and around Madison with some places being 2" or even open water and don't feel like going for a swim since don't know if I can pull my slender frame (ya right?)  out of 5-6' of water anymore.

was out saturday and sunday

I will admit that the winds crossing the Hudson River were most righteous and gusty 140 feet above the water.  The bear mountain bridge is only 1/2 mile as opposed to the 3 miles of the TZ bridge but I took the southerly route each time

Looking forward to riding all winter unless there is snow and ice on the ground

Received 3" of snow the last 2 days. Need at least 6" for county trails to open. More predicted for next week. Snowmobiles  are ready but not enough white stuff yet. Hopefully in 5 weeks we can go sleddin TAZ!

We got around 5" just a little over 1 hour south of you TrickyD.  The badger trail and sugar river trail outside of my hometown are open for snowmobiles and the local clubs am sure are open as well.  In case next week's forecast changes and from what I heard so far only 1" more of snow on Monday, come on down and we can ride from my house unless of course that 5" dwindles to below 4" and they close again for snowmobiles.  Then, they open up just the badger trail for ATV's of which I have.   I'm sure though your county trails near your house are more scenic and adventureous.
Definitely not pulling out the permanent shack out onto the ice this fishing season since the Madison lakes won't be froze over until February if we are lucky and they have to be taken off the first weekend in March I think.

Defiantly not good for snowmobile sales. Looks like it's going to be mid 30's to 45 degrees this week again. It's been nice but I am thinking we will pay for this come July during the snow storm of the century  Undecided

I was enjoying the dry rather warm weather.  Got to ride a couple times a week.  Then couple weeks ago, the snows came.  Not enough to make up for us not having snow all along, but made a dent in the lack of snow in the mountains (read dry summer - no water).  The rains on the snow in the basin helped a lot in cleaning the roads.  Even got in a 100 + miler yesterday.

Last year we go most of our moisture (snow) after the first of Feb.  May happen again this year.

At least, we and the rest of the lower US, are not getting the winter Alaska is getting.  Suppose to be the coldest (and snow'est) winter in the last 40 years.

There was supposed to be a race on the lake near me this coming weekend. Ice is too thin so cancelled again! Can't trail ride or run the 2 vintage race sleds. Also too much road salt to run the Valk. This lack of winter really sucks big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 50 miles to the north of us, little town called Chemult, OR, they have dog sled races every year on the 3rd weekend of January.  They cancled the first week of January due to lack of snow.  Six days before the race weekend, they got over two feet of snow.  One never knows about the weather out here.

I'm loving this lack of cold and snow! We have a few inches on the ground, but with highs in the low 40s forecast, it'll be gone soon. I think I might smell an early spring...
