Motorcycle Insurance

Still waiting for my new '03 Valk to be built from the crate.  In the mean time, I'd like to hear people's experience with motorcycle insurance.  My last bike was a '73 Honda CB750, so obviously I had no collision or theft and it cost about $80 per year for liability.

Is there a preferred insurance vendor?
What coverage is good for a brand new Valk?
What rates are people paying?

Insurance rates vary greatly depending upon your zip code. One thing is for sure Bro., if you are used to paying $80 per year, you're not gonna be pleased with your rate quote. Ya just gotta bite the bullet & enjoy the ride.

All four of my bikes, with Micah (17 yr old) listed as a rider and my wife (over 18!!) also, in addition to me, costs $177/yr. That is liability and comprehensive (fire & theft) only-no collision. That is $100K coverage. This includes a Valk, a 250 Ninja, a 500 Ninja, a 250 Reflex scooter. This is through progressive.

Like the fine print says in all those weight loss commercials, m/c insurance varies significantly from state to state and within metropolitan areas within states; as well as type of bike, driving record, etc.
If you are a member of the Honda Riders Club of America (HRCA), automatic membership comes with purchase of new m/c from a Honda dealer.  They have a discount program through Progressive Insurance.  I had Progressive for 8 years, but recently switched to GEICO (where I have my auto insurance) where my policy on my 97 Tourer is $160 a year and was about $30 cheaper than Progressive quoted me after moving to FL.  In Atlanta GA where I was riding on mountain roads about 10K miles a year, my policy was $130/year (no at fault accidents either car or m/c; no tickets; ERC course certificate).  Moved to suburban FL area where roads are straight and flat and policy was going to be $60 more from Progressive.  At first I thought there was some sort of mistake made in the underwriting since the roads here are far less dangerous and getting out of Atlanta traffic; but due to all the 'mature senior' drivers here in FL, the rates are higher.
