I have been having a starting problem when the bike is started from a cold start. Now I live in Florida so it is not that cold.

Just when I go to start it the first time of the day it sometimes takes so many cranks it runs the battery down.

It was serviced 2000 miles ago so I don't think the carbs are my problem. This started getting worse the last month or so.

I saw someone mention proper use of the choke that may be my problem.  I do it like the maual says. And I have never had a choke problem on any other bike. But maybe I am doing something wrong.Any help on proper choking would be appreciated. I

I'm not sure what Valker means with 'Check your other post.'  So I'll answer here.

The choke lever is a little unusual compared to those on other kinds of bikes.  Push the lever down, and then push it farther down.  With the first push you'll think you've go the choke all the way on, but you don't.  A little second effort and you're there.

We've all been through this.  I used to crank, and crank, and crank.  Sometimes I thought the battery would die.  It always caught eventually  but it took a while,

Peter and Valker Thanks a Bunch. Your suggestion to push the choke farther down did the trick. I charged the battery pushed the choke till it stopped and then pushed it a little more. It fired right up on the first crank and has everytime since.

Man I owe you guys. I thought I had a carburetor problem and was ready to take it in for service.
