A couple of weeks ago the old altenator in the Interstate gave up the ghost. The replacement was $$$$$$$ unbelieveable!
Anyway I don't want to cut the frame or move the engine to install
the Compufire ,but it is starting to look like a better option.

So here is the real Question! Does anybody know of a shop that will rebuild my old altenator, maybe even rewind it to 50....60 amps. Is this possible?

First guy to respond why don't you rebuild it yourself...POW!
If I wanted to do it myself or take the time to learn I wouldn't be here asking!

Ride easy!

...with your local alternator shops? I'd bet that an auto type rewind shop could do it.shocked

I understand that the biggest problem is the dust from the wearing brushes tend to short things out, general maint, cleaning this up is the best insurance against replacing the alternator. Once it's bad, I don't know if I can help you.
