For those that remember, I posted to this forum recently, asking a couple tech questions about some older Valks in anticipation of buying one. Well, a family friend has a '99 Valk fully equipped with nice bags, a full shield and a Cobra Light Bar, he barely rides the thing anymore. The bike is in excellent condition with just over 14,000 miles. He started it up for me and I noticed that with the choke on it was idling at about 2000 RPMs for the first minute or so, then it jumped up to 3000 briefly until he took the choke off. He noted that a year or two ago he had to have the carbs rebuilt because he let raw fuel sit in them over the winter and they got gummed up. Any chance this high colde idle is the result of a poor carb rebuild? or is it normal? Thanks!

Sounds like a great bike. I only leave mine on choke for a couple of minutes at most.shocked

sentra

agreed, sounds pretty normal. dump a couple ounces of mmo into it and ride it out, sounds like a nice bike, how much ??

mine only needs a minute or so of choke on a cold morning. none in the summer, but 2,000 rpm is about what mine does too.

With the choke full on mine will run at about 3000 rpm, or a little more. Sound normal to me.
This sounds like an execllent bike, if the price is fair, jump on it, you'll never be sorry.
