KC you are correct, I was referring to the Kuryakyn electric deer alerts.

The website attached to my last post shows the test results of several Deer Alerts and says the wind activated whistles are less effective and have a shorter range.

I can't be 100% sure they work, but if they decrease the chances of running into a Deer by even a small %, it was worth the $30.

Besides, I've wasted allot more than $30 on useless stuff before, so if it doesn't work at all, it's really no big deal.

Heck I've spent more than that in $1 bills at "Entertainment Clubs" and had less to show for it.  Cheesy

John- I have the Hornet S-120C (chrome) alarm which I mounted on the top of my motor guard on the right side.  I put the small toggle switch under my key ignition switch.  I's 4" long and about the size of a roll of nickels.  This unit looks good and cost about $70.00.  The companies website is, http://www.xp3hornet.com and they are located in Aurora, OH.  They have a $500 quarantee that if you hit a deer while having this alarm on, they will pay the deductible portion of the vehicles comprehensive insurance up to $500.  I don't understand why people will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on accessories, custom paint and performance equipment and not on safety equipment.  Good luck...Ride safe, smart and often - Tom Wright, Atlanta

In my post I was NOT referring to the ele. deer horns.  I was referring to the little plactic whistles that glue on each side of your bumper or windshield (or wherever you put them on a bike.

The Ele horn may work.  I have no history with it and I hope it does work.  All I know is the little plastic whistles do not work at all.

Good luck with the Ele. ones.

It's great if they do work and I'll look into one for my bike.

I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and had a deer encounter on my Volusia back in '02. I was only going about 25, but it still cost me a steel plate in my collar bone, 5 broken ribs, and a punctured lung.  That said, I ride a 2000 Interstate that has the chrome Kuryakyn electronic deer alert on it. I have witnessed deer, horses, and other woodland creatures stop and look at my approach but never come in front of me. I don't have a false sense of security about it, I'm diligent about looking for them but I do breath a little easier. My biggest thing with the regular ones is you have be traveling above a certain speed for it to work.  I would recommend one.   Ride safe.
