I am looking for a good rear bag for my 2001 standard. I have small Saddleman bags that came with the bike. They work fine around town. I can store my briefcase on the way to work. However,Im now ready to hit the road and need more storage. I have a solo Ultimate seat and a luggage rack on the rear fender. The bags that I would consider appear to require a sissy bar for support and as an attachment point. Anyone out there have a good solution? It should be functional and look good. I'm sure I could rig something but off the shelf woud be good.

Rev-Pak makes tough soft luggage, and there are many different strap on shapes that will hold as much as you want. I have used them for 15 years and never had a problem. Nice small family owned co. with good people to deal with.

Something a little different...I picked up an Eddie Bauer 30" duffel at my local Target store. It's a wheeled bag with stealth backpack straps, center handle, end handle and extension handle used with the wheels, a long zipper that opens the main body clamshell fashion and another big compartment that's more of the standard duffle thing, along with two little pockets. The zippers for the two big compartments have loops for small padlocks. It was just under $100 before tax; a LOT less than the nearest I've seen for wheeled bags intended for bikes. It has a sort of pocket that the backpack straps go into for storage that will fit over the stock passenger backrest and a cover with snaps for that area that will (with a little encouragement and enough swearing) stretch under the backrest and connect to the bottom of the bag. I still use a half dozen bungies to make sure it doesn't come adrift, along with a cable lock to ensure it doesn't come with some jerk (first trip I took with it on the bike, I was drinking coffee inside a convenience store and watching a guy eying the bag...obviously looking at the bag, not the bike and had to laugh when I stepped outside in my riding gear just after he started ambling over there and he almost fell over reversing himself...had about 4", 25 lbs and 10-15 fewer years on me, too) Anyways, I've enjoyed it a lot. Check out the "Close Outs" section on the T-Bag website. They have a Convertible listed for $79.
I bought a closeout T-bag 4 years ago to use on my last bike (Magna) and it was awesome! I still use it sometimes... I strap it to the trunk rack of my I/S.

I checked out the revpak web site and gave them a call. The excursion pack was exactly what I was looking for and then some. The owner who I spoke with was as helpful as you described. He sounded genuinely touched when I read him the response of his longstanding customers. The only issue I have is mounting the pack to the rack. I was told I need at least a 12x12 surface to hold the pack. My fender rack only measures 6x8. I'm thinking I can clamp a larger grate to the rack when I use the pack.
The Tbags all seemed to attached to a sissy bar and look like a giant sail slowing you down.

Hi, The photo is from Palisade Head on the MN north shore, not too much farther up 61 past Split Rock lighthouse. Funny that Brockway Mt. would get mentioned...this shows the bag with extra-special Hefty brand raincover in use there last August. [attachment deleted by admin]

i know this may sound kind of silly, but, i have both the t-bag and the rally pac. they both work fine, but really don't hold everything i want for a two week'er. i went to wal mart and found a large ( 20" by 20" by 32") nylon luggage sport type bag, sort of like a big gym bag. it has rubberized interior and stays dry in the worst rain ( something the t-bag or rally pac don't) it straps on with a couple of bungees and rides on the back seat very stable. cost $18.00 yup ! dennis

Has anyone looked at Kuryakyn Bags? They seem to look good on a bike anyway.

molassas. nice looking ride. you have some interesting looking leather on your bike. the pockets along the windshield, and the cover that is on your gas tank. it has a pouch on it that will or looks like it will hold a cd player or a walkman. do you know were i can find these two items? would appreciate some help. or some direction from anyone of you valk riders. am planning a long trip and need some storage space for little things.
