What is it worth?

LOL My Interstate is the first bike that I have ever owned. I have ridden only one or two small bikes for a very short distance before. I am 5'5 1/2" tall and I thought that I had bitten off way more than I could chew too but it's not too bad nowadays.

Well it looks like I'm the biggest sucker of us all.....in '02 I bought my brand spankin' new -no miles- 2000 I/S for $14,500. And yes I'd do it again. It took me 3 months to talk the dealer down $2,000. The wife wasn't real happy, but she ain't my problem no more. MGD, your gonna love that scooter! Welcome:yougo:

Both times I paid the askin price no questions
Paid 10500 for  the1st interstate, a 2000 with 4000 miles on her.

Paid 11500 for the 2nd interstate a 2001 with same mileage

The first one didnt have the foglights but did have the BBP windshield which is 4" wider and 2" taller than the stock fairing shield. Man that was one Huge shield.  Miss the width but not the height of that thing. Also the new one has that all important change holder for them parking meters and a mudflap to keep the nails away from rear tire.  And being a two tone it is faster and prettier (she is a lady after all)

But like Condor advised me at the time of the wreck, you wanna ride you gonna pay and dont look back.

Yep did the same after the wreck of my 2000 I/S also. When they towed my wreck into the dealer the one I have now was sitting in the back room. Dealer did try to see if there were any others in the area, couldn't find another I/S at the time, so I paid 12,200 for a 1999 with 15,000 miles. Within a week I was back riding. removed what chrome goodies that weren't damaged before the insurance company took it. Haven't regreted it at all.

Wow, you guys have me feeling like I stole mine from the dealer.... $9500 for a 99 Interstate with about 5000 miles and not a scratch on it (except for a broken tab on right side panel).

That was two years ago. And I haggled a new set of tires onto it too. Even if your wife is on board with this kind of thing (which mine was, she fell in love with the ride just as bad as me) you can get an awesome deal by letting her by the "bad cop" when you're looking at buying.

bought mine last summer, 2003 brand new out of the crate from fay myers in denver for 9,500.00. they still had 6- 03's left. great deal !!

I also was intimidated when I first rode this bike, difference between forward controls on the 1100 Shadow and where they are on the Valk. I kept kicking the head covers. The power!!!! Holy crap!!!! This bike continues to amaze me daily. When I walk up to it at work I wonder is that really my bike? Yup. Knowing I have the fastest bike on the parking lot at work is cool too.
Is it? will it? ever be for sale?

was a wing rider for a few years but just bought a 99 valk.  paid 8500,  11,000 miles.  looks like new. black and silver.  drove a 1200 wing and thought it had some power...wrong.  the valk has me a little scared.   healthy fear is not always bad. makes me respect the power of the valk.  i think i got a great deal.putting extras on is costly. looking forward to the long  rides this summer.  drove the wing 13,000 to 15,000 per year.  love riding in the mountains.  good luck all you valk riders

I'm reading these answers to MGBRingo's questions and everyone is throwing out what they paid for their ride without even thinking about the question... !

I say HELL YES… It’s WORTH IT!!!!  You paid a very fair price and the seller got a fair deal as well!  Congrat's MGBRingo.

I understand folks speaking out loud... and I know everyone always wants everybody else to know they got a GREAT DEAL!  Actually with a Valk... all deals are Great!  But IMHO we should try to answer the fellows question like Condor did.  Anyway... I'm not trying to preach or be to direct folks... just pointing out that you're not being fair with an answer that your paid or a friend paid less for a standard Valk... when a fellow is asking about an Interstate.

Also, what extras did it have...CB add 500 bucks or so!  Does it have the intercom cords... there 50 bucks each!  How about other extras like Pods w/fog lights...etc.  I think MGBRingo got a very good deal on an Interstate which retailed for as much as 3000 dollars over most standards.

For the fellow who got the Brand New I/S all I can say is every now and then a fellow get's really lucky!

Bottom line is that the I/S Valk is the best long touring bike on the market as we all think so, and I'm sure MGBRingo sir... you will agree soon enough.

I paid 13,500 for mine with over 6K of extra's and a American Legend trailer... to boot w/two-tone paint to match, chrome swivel hitch, ice chest, carpet, chrome mag wheels, w/matching spare... top luggage rack and many other extras plus all stock parts and as a throw in a pair of Arai helmets w/J&M headsets, CB and extension cords...!  BTW… the American Legend trailer still available today with all extras I have retails for $4,200…!

I'd would have paid more...!

I see that you didn't need me to chime in, I have loved both of my I/S's, I bought my '99 new 03/31/00, and paid 13,500 for it, already had the CB installed.
After the '99 went down in W. Kansas; I found a '00 I/S that was loaded with almost everything you could put on it, & 3900 miles. I had to pay 14,500 for it, and never regretted it. I even got to break it in. The process was only started when I got it, with that mileage.

This is going to be fun.  It has been very interesting seeing all of the comments about the Valkyrie here and everywhere.

I was very very close to buying a HD Ultra Classic but backed out because of the arrogent salesman.   Looks like I made the right choice buying the Valkyrie.  It sure is a smooth bike with more power than I need.

bought my 97 standard 2 years ago for 3500.00. a little road rash and a salvage title was part of the deal. drove it home from from the salvage yard about 8 miles and i was hooked! original plan was buy, fix, sell, buy harley,no harley yet! next bike will be another valk if i manage to wear out this one.
