I am posting this a a personal appeal to get more people involved in the operation of this club. It is not a business, it is an all volunteer operation. It is a great group of people here on this board, and you can help make it better!

There are open positions on the board, most of the regional directors, state directors slots are vacant. As the old expression goes many hands make light work. This does not need to be a heavy burden. I have served on several board of various small charities in my area over the years and I have not found it too hard. Mostly it is about sharing your ideas, and working with others make them happen. Nothing like a second job, but a chance to meet new people and have new adventures and show your pride in your organization.

Taz has been posting appeals on open positions, but go to the exec board page or the chapters page and see all the opportunities. I am not bashing the VRCC but it is a business run completely by Oz, a nice guy, but he is in it for the money. Yes I am sure he loves his job I wish I could spend all my time working on ride-ins and such, but that is not who we are. We are a member-run, member-owned group. Nobody makes a cent off us. We are supported by our dues. I can't make it any clearer this IS YOUR CLUB!!!! WE NEED HELP! Please step up and take on some small piece. It will be fun I promise!

I see there are several positions open in my state (Massachusetts).   I would like to find out more about what the State Director and VP positions involve.  Who should I contact?

I post regularly to this forum and would love to get more involved.

Thank you for the gentle, yet effective kick in the pants.

Hi John,

That is great Thanks! Here is the way it is now. Taz has told me that I am in line to be the new Eastern VP, moving up from my NE Regional Director slot which I have held for the last several years. So that slot will be available, as well as state director. Will you be at Americade? We could meet there? or I will be at the next Dragon Riders monthly meeting next fri (27th) at 7:00 at Giovanni's Grill in Northboro and you would be welcome.

Also I have recently set up a new Yahoo Group for the Dragon Riders that you can join at

http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/dragon-riders

Obviously until the Eastern VP issue is settled I cannot make any appointments official, but be assured that I will keep you in mind. In the meantime any ideas that you have for rides or related activities feel free to send me a quick note. Outside of the Americade event I have nothing firmly planned, but we usually do a couple of charity rides, and there may be a BBQ at some point so stay tuned.

Finally as to your question of what they involve that would be up to you really. There are no set duties.

I never knew there was a NY rep position but will be happy to be the state representative.
As far as I can tell  I am the only member besides Beastrider (GaryinNY). If there is anyone else lurking these boards from NY please post you are alive and well and your handle.
Just email me what I am supposed to do.

That's great!! See my response above, as much applies to you too ;-). The job would be yours to define. Find other members and organize rides would be where you could start. Simple and fun! Also I am beginning to think about trying to have a weekend event much like the Helen event up here in the Northeast. Think about some areas where this might happen, and if you think that it might be something we could put together? in Aug? Too quick? Maybe not this year,  but next for sure.

See you at Americade!

I couldn't find a Giovanni's in Northborough...

I think you meant Guiseppe's Grille on Solomon Pond Rd?

If so... See you Friday night.
