How Many Miles Do You Ride On Your Motorcycle Each Year?

I had a fellow at work talking to me about his Vulcan one day and bragging that he had less miles on his bike then mine did so his bike was newer and somehow that was better. He said he tried not to ride more than 3000 miles a year on his bike. I just don't understand that point of view. I got my Valkyrie to ride as much as I can.

So I was just wondering how many miles the average Joe out there rides.

I bought my bike to ride not to enjoy looking at it sitting in the garage or to trade or sell. I usually keep them till the wheels fall off, glue them back on and ride it some more. My Valkyrie Interstate oughta’ be good to go fur’ about 175,000 plus.

I don’t ride as much as I wish I had time for but I do manage to burn the rubber off a set of new tires every year. Got Metzelers on now. Thinking of trying Dunlop Elite 3 next year and see if I can burn the rubber off of them just as fast. Also what to compare them to the Metzelers.

I've read your pieces on the vrcc board.

Thanks for writing.

Valketeer, the true answer is not near as much as I would like but that is probably true of most of us with jobs and families.

I have averaged 9-10000 miles a year so far between the 1st and 2nd Interstates. Most of it is the half hour to work and back on the Parkway, some in city driving in the Bronx and the most pleasurable part on Sunday mornings before the kids wake up.

I expect the trip to Americaid and then Montrose in July will up my average a bit : )

Unfortunately, I dont get to ride as much as I would like to.  Last year I rolled up just over 6,500 miles on  the bike.  Very little interstate driving.  Mostly it was back roads/parkway riding.  I hope to push it up a bit higher this year.  Work permitting...

LD and I average between 15,000 and 18,000 a year with a 5,000 mile ride each summer.  Didn't hit that last year or this year, but hopefully we'll get LD back on the bike soon and start putting some mileage on!

12-15,000 per year or so here.

I tend to average 12,000 to 15,000 per year.  Living in Florida, I usually ride some every week, and, although I don't commute on the scoot, I typically change into jeans and boots as soon as I get home from work and do some scooting every day that the weather permits.

And put 7,000 miles on her. I expect my average to be higher at the end of this year, as I'll be taking off on a 2,000 + mile trip to Tennessee at the end of June.

I bought my Valk one year ago on Memorial day weekend and have put 8000 miles on it.  I hope to put that much on it this summer.
