Just got home in the Exploder, and I don't want to steal Dave's thunder, but, despite some wet weather moments Friday and Saturday morning, from the comments of the scooter-folk there (and there were LOTS of them -- 60 or more motorcycles and 90+ folks at the dinner) it was greatly enjoyed.  THANKS A HEAP, DAVE, DEBBIE, AND TOM!!!  It was one of the absolute best!!!

I suffered from scooter-envy, as I watched ride after ride take off on runs I've made before and yearned to make this weekend.  Fortunately, there were so many of old friends I hoped to see again and of new friends to be made that I still had a great time! There was lots of excellent "tahr-kickin'", and more lies swapped than at a fishermen's weigh-in.

Saturday, I drove the Exploder to the Batesville General Store directly in front of Tom Wright's group who were headed to Cashiers, NC by a long, adventuresome route, and, not only did I get to do breakfast with some of them, but also I discovered a great ride  on the way back to the motel I either didn't know about or have forgotten.  I sure did miss the Valk, though.

If you missed this one, you really missed something excellent.  Plan now to do next year's on the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend.

Since LD won the 2-night stay at the Best Western for next year, I'd say there's an excellent chance we'll be there!  :-)

Had a great time, as usual Deb and Dave did an outstanding job on details etc.  Like Hurricane, I was suffering from scooter envy when I heard all the fun my Daytona friends had on their rides.  Although Scarlett, LD and I had a nice time, we still missed going on the rides.

Once again Dave - you and Deb are the BEST!!!

Deb and I arrived home about 4:30 after an early morning start from Helen.  Despite the overcast and gray skies on Saturday and Sunday, most of us didn't experience any wet stuff.  We even got in an afternoon ride on Friday.
Thanks to everyone for the wonderful time.  Lots of new faces that said they will be back next year (and hopefully some new VOA members); as well as some of the oldtimers.  I will get some photos posted on the website by next weekend as I have to fly out tomorrow morning and won't be back until Friday.
It was great to see LD, RH, Scarlett and Hurricane and I know we all appreciate the effort you made to come up - even if in a cage.  The important thing was that you made it and hopefully got a lot of endorphines from the love and support we all have been sending your way for fast recoveries.
Thanks again to Tom Wright for all his effort in getting some fantastic door prizes.  I also forgot to thank the folks that volunteered to lead rides on Saturday: Hal Hogan, Al Thornton and Tom Wright.  Everyone had great things to say about the quality of the rides and the safe way they were conducted!  We heard that there was a m/c fatality on Hwy. 17/75 north of Helen Saturday afternoon when a sportbike missed a turn and was hit by a car.  A harsh reminder of the danger of our sport.
Thanks again to everyone and I will post a more complete report by next weekend with the photos!

DAMN VIKING!  They sent me the wrong freaking pistons.  So I sat here sulking all weekend because my bike was sitting here in pieces and you folks were down there in Helen having such a good time...

Ahh, maybe next year.

I WISH THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE! If you are having it just before Memorial Day next year, maybe I could call it my Birthday present to myself. That might get it past the wife. Still it would be a long trip for a weekend with great friends.

I was a "first timer" and enjoyed myself very much. Thanks to the folks that made it possible!
I met Rich, Smitty. Ronnie, Damon and Chuck. Enjoyed talking with all of you!!
Met and talked to some other folks. Enjoyed that too. I have the jade and black tourer.
There are sure some nice roads to ride in that area. I will definitely make it earlier next year to join in on a group ride.
