I had posted this question in the midst of a thread regarding another subject, so there is a good chance it was overlooked (it was not answered). On a thread about long rides in the saddle, another member suggested the use of Anti Monkey Butt Powder and included this link... http://www.antimonkeybutt.com/ambfaqs.htmlI'm either naive or skeptical... Has anyone else ever heard of it, or used it before? Is it for real? I prefer prevention to reaction, but I don't want to end up with a hand full of Tabasco coated sand in my fanny.

I've heard of it but never used it. It was tested(tested?) in one of the magazines that I subscribe to & they reported that it really works. With my Ultimate Big Boy seat, I don't seem to have a need for it.

who rides a bike that you actually have to pedal. He goes from 40 to 100 miles at a time and he swears by the stuff.
I an inclined to take his word for it and may borrow some for the big trip in July.

just buy the wooden beads. my brother-in law and father-in- law swear by them and they go on long trips each like 3,000-4500 mile jobs been using them for 3 years.

Never heard of "Anti Monkey Butt Powder", but my son, who is an avid long distance bicycle rider gave me some silk under shorts to wear on those hot summer days. Works great, wicks the moisture away and keeps you comfy all day.

I'm hoping to get an Ultimate some day, but not this year, as my bike budget it already overspent (I’ll budget more in ’06).
I could never understand why some people would rather pedal, when there are so many bikes out there with engines, but it sounds like a good endorsement.
I don't want to know where you put the wooden beads... Seriously, I assume it's a seat pad of some type, yes?
That is correct, it was Rumpstun that posted the site.
Silk skivvies? I tried boxers once, but didn't really like them. Perhaps it's time to try again.
So for now, I'll get a pair of silk boxers to test, check out wooden bead seat covers, buy a can of Anti-Monkey Butt (just in case) and for the long term solution, convince my CO that I "need" an Ultimate seat.
Thank you all again.

I bought a Diamond Custom Seat with the fabric inserts. Even after a long, hot day, there is no problem with rashes or Monkey-Butt!!

Just got my order of anti monkey butt powder and I must say it looks and feels a lot like baby powder. I'll find out how it works this weekend but won't get to report back until June 6th.
