I am an ex Harley owner and decided to dump my Fat Boy last summer, but after seeing this SWEET yellow and black Valk over the weekend, I'm dying to get one. My local Honda dealer has 2 Valks in stock. The first is his own, an '02 blue and white Valk with Honda saddle bags and a windshield for $9100 - but it has 21000 miles. I know this guy pretty well from riding over the past couple years and he did take great care of it, but that seems a little high even though the bike is in great shape. The other Valk is an '03 straight stock with 421 miles on it for $12k. Any opinons on what a fair offer would be for either of them?
Thanks in advance,
Paul Richmond,KY

I agree with Valker, go with the 02 Tourer. The bags and shield are worth about $2,000 if you were going to equip the 03 the same. Resale prices aren't going down, and most folks are looking for a Tourer or Interstate. Just make the best deal you can and drive it for 200 thousand mles. The price is reasonable, 21K miles is considered "low mileage".

Personnelly, I would rather the one with less miles. But the 12K he wants is too much!!!! The 03 w/421 miles is a better deal for me cause I would want to setup my way. The 21K miles on the 02 is more than broken in IMHO. Sure the Valk can handle many miles... but for the extra dough... I'd rather put them on. Either bike will be fine of course cause the Valk is a great ride. But for me... the 421 miles is Brand New...! Aside... which one appeals to you more? What type saddle bags? Are they Hard Bags? Are they both the same model? These things should help you decide... or post for us to help you... Good Luck... I'm going to check the KBB value. RKip

KBB on the Valkyrie 2003 Honda GL1500C Valkyrie 6-Cylinder 4-Stroke 1520cc Suggested Retail Value $9645 2002 Honda GL1500C Valkyrie 6-Cylinder 4-Stroke 1500cc Suggested Retail Value $9020 Street and Touring Expected Accumulated Average Mileage Model Year 750cc & Over 2003 15600 2002 20600 So this means the 02 has a little below average miles. And the 03 has 15,000 less mile than average. Add back 0.15/mile or app. $2300.00 dollars. Turns out 12K is a fair price according to these numbers. But would be better at 11.5K. So the questions is.... which is the best deal for you.... a new bike, or an slightly used.... but used just the same. Also, which one appeals to you more. If all else was the same... for me the New Bike would be my choice. Assuming you were buying w/o retail value in mind. Meaning planning on keeping the bike for a long while! Hope this helped! RKip

I purchased my 1999 Interstate in 2003 with 14,550 miles on it. Talked with the former owner. He did all the factory maint, so I felt good about the purchase, I paid $11.500 for it and felt it was a good price. These things can go forever.
I know things change, but I can never at this point see me riding anything else.

RKip The '02 with 21,000 miles has leather Honda saddlebags that say "Valkyrie" and a honda windshield. The '03 has a windshield and some cheesy looking throw over bags. I am torn, you make a very good point but $3k is a good size difference.

well looks like there both standards i would offer the dealer 10,500 and see if he would throw in a windshield. you can always pickup some saddle-bags and chances are you still have a warrenty on the 03 and you would be able to extend that out.

Hmmm... I stand corrected, I thought you were talking about an 02 Tourer with hard bags. The leather bags go for about $500 new. I have a set that I used for about a year, I'll let them go pretty cheap.
