I was wondering if anyone rides with a tank bag and if so has does it affect your riding style if at all. I found this one on the net and seem to like it but for the money a person could get a good sissy bar bag.

I prefer the simpler approach: click
I love a tank bag since it puts the weight exactly where it doesn't affect the handling of the bike. It also is very handy to put stuff in and take it out easily. I prefer one with a "pulp based GPS unit" pouch (paper maps).shocked

I have a strap-on type (I'm talking about the tank bag, so I don't want to hear any comments).

I use it on longer trips to hold a camera, baseball cap, chap stick, etc., but mostly because mine has a clear, double-sided, reversible pouch to hold a map, which is really handy.  I usually use a highlighter to make it easier to see my route, so my eyes aren't off the road for more than a couple of seconds and believe it or not, my wife watches the road, while I peek at the map.

The straps can be a pain in the butt sometimes (I usually I take it off when I get to where I'm going) so I'd be interested in hearing about the magnetic mounted bags, if anyone uses one.

You might want to check Honda Direct line, JC Whitney and Dennis Kirk for more choices.

that is what drew me to the superbag. It has all the functions that was mention with the map pocket plus it has a power adapter option that allows you to plug in GPS,Cell,Ipod etc. and it can be taken on and off the bike quickly.

I've got a River Road "ultimate" magnetic mount tank bag.  At first I thought it was huge, but it works very well and now I won't ride without it.  It's just big (tall) enough that the map is easy to look at without having to look straight down, yet it doesn't get in the way even during hard riding.  The magnets hold plenty good enough, just make sure the tank is clean so dirt doesn't get trapped between it.

for metal shavings.  I checked my magnetic tank bag real close today and found small, sharp metal shavings stuck to the bottom. I must have put the bag down near my work bench and pick up the shavings. It took a considerable amount of time picking them off.

The "SUPERBAG" is way toooo tall!  It will block you from seeing the "instrument panel".

I speak from experience... I bought a shaped 2 piece magnetic tank bag that zipped apart to replace an unstructured JC Whitney tank bag I'd had for about 4 years.  With the new one in place, I could not see the speedometer, tach, idiot lights, etc.  I went back to the cheep JC Whitney expandable bag that had a clear map pocket on top and a small full length zippered pocket on both sides of the bag.

Just my 2 cents,

some good and sticky duct tape or other works good for me before setting bag on tank.
