Just wondering...Are progressive shocks better than the stock shocks?

Yes, much better.  Most use the Progressive 440's.  I like the 416 air shocks.

I have 416 Air Shocks as well, and used 412's on my last bike.  I also used Progressive fork springs on both.

If you're going to change the shocks, most folks I talk to suggest changing the forks springs as well.

I vote for the 440 HD's unless you are under 175 lbs., and you never ride 2up.

I just put 44o's on my Tourer and springs on the front. WOW It's a great ride! Try them I am sure you will like.
