I'm still on the prowl for a Valk and was wondering if I find one out of state if it would fit in the bed of an '03 Ram 1500 short bed? My guess is it would with the tail gate down, but I'm not certain.

Thanks in advance - Z

I know in a Chevy shortbed you could fit it with the tail down, figure the Dodge would be able to handle it.  It will be tight as the Valk is long but tie her down good and you should be just fine.

Come out to Montrose and buy one at Davis Honda and then come riding with us and have a BLAST

I live downtown Chicago now but grew up in Lombard just abit north of Woodridge.  I have friends  that live in Woodridge now right by where this mink farm was or is  somewhere around 75th street or just alittle south of there.

Might be down in your neck of the woods this summer, stay in touch maybe we can hook up when  I am down there.  Nice part of Kentucky.

I've hauled a Goldwing in a short bed Chev a few times, I'm sure the Dodge will be the same.  Oddly enough I have a Dodge Ram now, but never hauled any of the bikes in it.  Anyway, Heres what i did;  Lay a sheet of 3/4 plywood on the bed to mount the front chock and overlap the tail gate.  Most importantly secure the tail gate straps/cables with additional stronger supports.  I used light wieght chain with hooks on each end and a turn buckle to preload some tension on the tail gate.  Worked well for me, as I hauled from northern MN to NC.   The last time I loaded my riding mower in the Dodge one of the tail gate straps broke so don't trust them.

P.S.
If you have a drop in bed liner take it out as they are slippery, secure the plywood to the bed with tie downs or bolts, then secure the bike to the bed by adding eye bolts and using bed pockets......

here in colorado we have a state law that forbids the carrying of valkyries in pickups. only harley davidsons are allowed to be trailered or carried in pickups.

colorado was created especially for motorcycles, as God knew one day there would be bikes, and knew he would probably be riding a valk. himself.

you will see what i'm talking about when you get here. if you trailer your valk. people will drive up beside you and point. then talk about you behind your back.

should you see mine on a trailer, please call the law. it's been stolen !
