'97 Valkyrie Smoke/shifting
Hello:
Last summer, I experienced several problems with my Valk. (clutch slippage/engine would speed ahead of bike speed)? After inspecting the clutch reservoir/fluid (cloudy fluid) I bled and changed the the fluid several times, with little improvement.

I've used Mobil 1/synthetic oil m/c oil for most of thebikes life (6K to 30K miles). I changed the motor oil (Amsoil m/c oil to several Honda GN-4 changes w/Honda filters) several times after the slippage problem persisted. Still only minor improvement. I then began to notice stiff shifting and low oil readings on the oil dipstick.

On a 75 mile ride one day (2 up), it would not shift at all in lower gears. I discovered low/oil reading and added a quart of automotive oil (all that was available at the time). After a few freeway miles on our way home, the Valk. ran fine but began to smoke profusely (all 6 cylinders/oil bathing the inside of the pipes). I rode it home (30 miles) adding another quart of automotive oil (low reading, I may have over-filled
by now?) to get home.

I've never been able to correct the problem even after a Honda Dealer has evaluated my problem. The Honda dealer still has my bike (at this point, I have q's with this dealer) and says it doesn't smoke (but shifts hard) with 3 quarts of Honda GN-4, and does smoke with little or no shifting problem at 3.9 quarts! I don't want to damage it any further. Can you help?

Sounds like timing belts slipped maybe.  Older Wings do this a lot, not as common on 1500's.  Low oil level could have hurt the clutch.
