I'm looking for the CB antenna mounting bracket.  I don't need the antenna or coax, just the mounting bracket.  I have installed XM radio on my 99 I/S and the supplied low profile antenna is marginal in reception.  Terk makes an antenna that is for truck mirror mounts or RV's.  But in order to put it on I need the mounting bracket.  If anyone has a used one I can use to experiment with, let me know.  If it works then I'll go find a new one.

TIA

What you could try if you have the bag rails is go to a truck stop & look for ant that has the bracket for mirror mounting. I picked up 1 when i pinched the coax on my ant. when i put in the C.B. only cost about $10. That way you can see if there is any difference before you spend more money.

Frank when you get that set up all put together nice and neat I'll be the 1st to buy you a beer for the directions. I have been wanting a xm but have no idea how to make it work and look neat. I did not like the ant. that they are mounting on the trunk of the Valk I/S so just gave up on the Idea for now. Keep the site posted on how you are comming.

I too would be interested in knowing how that works out for you.  I would like to have the XM radio set up, been thinking about that for a while.  It would be really nice on those cross country trips.

Already have the XM installed. Works good with one up. Two up and the passenger block the low profile antenna on the trunk when oriented directly South. Any deviation from South and it works great.

Frank are you comming to New Mexico in July? If so I will be able to see the set up then as wife and I will be there.
Wife just bought her self a new 03 Goldwing and we took a quick trip to Fla. on it with me driving but you still fight the radio for stations,

Above is the link that will show you the antenna I'm talking about.  If you have trunk rails on your I/S, it may work just like it is.  If, it don't look bad.  The appearance of the way it will look, mounted on the trunk rail, is going to be a big plus or minus. That's why I want to see if it will adapt to the CB mounting rail. May be better cosmetically

As for the install it was easy.  The only additional items to buy are the SMC mount ($40 from SMC) to mount it to the handlebar and a 6' audio cord ($6 from Radio Shack) with male 1/8" stereo connectors on each end. Everything else is in the auto kit.  Total investment is around $220.

Frank if you go to Galveston be sure and e-mail me as I could meet you on the Galveston end and see what you have done and it is a neat ride for me.
The best way for you to get to Galveston is to take a left at Winnie,Tex. go south till you hit the beach then go west till you get to the ferry. The ferry is free and Motorcycles can go to the front of the line.

Frank, if you don't go to Galveston, I hope that you will try to make it to Sipapu, should be a Grand time, it always is.
I'm sure that you can probably find some lodging still available.
I would certainly like to meet you.  If not in New Mexico, maybe I can meet you some where in Texas.  My sister and parents live in Texas, haven't seen them since the trip to Helen Ga. last year. Take care and ride safe.

Thanks for the directions Ron.  Been there many times.  That is the way I go.  I was born in Port Arthur and grew up in Galveston.  My brother and mother are still there.  Also my wife's brother's family. Houston is a shopping trip for my wife.  I'll email you if we go.  I usually trailor the bike down there.

KC, I'll certainly tried and hook up with you somewhere.  Thanks for the invite.

Still waiting on the Terks antenna. But here is a picture of the radio mounted.  Works like a dream.  Just a few minor dead spots.  I don't think it's my other half blocking the antenna but the 1800 luggage rack I have.  More pic to follow for the antenna install
