I am thinking about doing a ride soon from the St Johns area down to Daytona and up. What roads might you suggest for south of the Palatka area SR 19, 17, 309, and crossing over on 40 or 44 any maybe going by sunshine mall? and of course stop by the Honda shop to see what's new. Any good places to eat? Interested?
Thanks, Charlie:cool:

You can't go wrong taking A1A to Ormond Beach then 40 west. The Blackwater Inn on the St. Johns is a good restaurant, always a lot of bikes in the parking lot! Come towards Ocala/Silver Springs and then go north on 314 back to Salt Springs then through Palatka on back home to your neck of the woods. Or, if you prefer reverse the direction, run it backwards! Either direction would make a good diverse ride, woods and beach, plus would take a good part of the day coming from north of Jax.

2qmedic,
Try 42 from Deland back to Belleview. It is a two lane winding country road. Not many houses or traffic. Great ride and I believe it crosses 19 at some point so you can head north if you want. I very seldom ride 40 anymore when headed for Daytona, 42 is such a great ride.

Almost forgot, near the end of 42 you can catch c-25 toward Belleviw and stop at Gator Joe's, Great place for a lunch and a beverage. It is right on the shore of Lake Wier.

Hey guys, Thanks for the notes. Been wanting to ride all this week and it's been 1st one thing and then another. Looks as if tomorrow I can ride, but it will be 30ish in the morning when I leave and will be on it to St Augustine (1hr 15min). I know, quit my whinning. At least it will be another sunny day in Fl:cool:

At least your making me feel warmer, with all of your pics. I got out from under the snow, and have been riding every day for the last week, cold but enjoyable. Guess that I put about 450 mi. on this week. Might be more soon, as it has warmed up out of the 30's in the daytime, 50's both days this weekend. Keep posting those pics, maybe it'll give me the incentive to get back down there again.

OK, so the news says its 41 degrees out this morn, so I suit up and on my merry way (wish the power cord for the electric vest was in). Going 295 and then south on 95 when I am passed by a car doing 90-95mph. Couldn't resist. Throttle=95mph and a bigger smile on my face!! Got to my exit, walked in the store for a cup of coffee and they looked at me kinda funny (maybe it is because of the helmet and riding suit), put my coffee in the trunk, drove 4 miles to school and had my hot cup of joe! Rode home the senic route in some absolutely beautiful sunny weather. Got home and installed the lower power to the electric vest (it came in today)and took another ride to test it out. Still works great. Nice and toasty!!
AHHH, it was a nice day!!!

That sounds a lot like my day. I hope to get out and put some 80+ miles on today. When it gets down into the teens, like it did a couple of weeks ago, I'm not as enthusiastic. When there is snow on the ground, or a good a chance of ice, I call it quits.

Tomorrow is to be at 28 and tuesday at 26 degrees. If it were not for all the stuff I had to carry between two places on each day I would ride. But looks like the rest of the week just might be good.
