Before you go to the shop, just soak the switch with solvent and work the kick stand a few times, could just be a dirty contact in the switch.  Hoser

Man, do I hate to disagree with my buddy hoser, but I do not believe it is the kickstand switch.  If it was, it would not crank at all.

There is a small micro switch on the clutch, so that when you pull the lever in, it pushes the switch, so that it will crank.  Look at the front of the lever, toward the inside.  Sometimes it needs cleaning, maybe just spray some good contact cleaner in it.  Once in a while it need to be replaced.

I had trouble with mine, and cleaning it worked.  Might be a little adjustment there too, I forget.

Good luck,   MP

Had a brainfart MP, you're right, probly got a worn bushing on the clutch lever, should hear a click from the switch with lever movement, if not thats the problem.  Hoser  Tongue

Good point on the bushing.  That will allow the lever to move away from the switch.

Thanks, hoser.

Hey guys.  Thanks for the tip on the starting switch problem.  Just got back from the shop and it is the CLUTCH LEVER switch, not the kickstand switch.  Have ordered a new one.

Thanks for helping a NEWBIE which also needs some help in setting up his profile and getting answers other than by email.

Go to "profile" and go thru the steps to do it.

You can contact someone by using either the email icon, OR the PM icon to the left.

If this does not work, contact again with specific problem.  We will try to help you out.

I went to the shop and it was the Clutch Lever switch.  New one ordered.  Thanks for your input and assistance.
