Is there a difference between a tourer and the Interstate model? I'm guessing it's the same bike. The pickin's on Ebay are pretty slim right now. Hopefully there will be more as the weather warms up.

The interstate has a larger gas tank. am fm radio with inputs for CB and aux (ipod or cd players) an led type fuel gauge two headlights in the fairing. two stereo speakers in the fairing the trunk has spots for two extra speakers the bags open differently on the tourer and interstate. the interstate has a slight timing advance over the other models, maybe because it is heavier by a hundred pounds.
i think that is about it 2001 interstate

The I/S also has a different ECM and carb springs to give the engine a bit more horsepower since it's a heavier bike. There are aftermarket ECM's out there, but I think they're only for the Standard & Tourer. There are certain highway pegs and air deflectors that won't work on an I/S that will work on a Tourer & Standard. The I/S has heat-deflection pods which keep the engine / radiator heat off your legs, which the Tourer's missing.

wowmotorcycles.com has several Valks listed with pics, along with about 300 other bikes. do not know anything about this place, such as are they rebiulders or what, but might be worth a check out to you, in Ga. I believe. As for I/s or Standard, I have one of each and could not tell you which one I would give up if I had to. I love them both.

Big difference between a Tourer and an Interstate.
Brother Crawdad, you posted on an earlier thread that you were going from a Wing and wanted maximum comfort for the passenger. If you are looking to give the passenger the comfort and wrap around comfort of a wing, the Interstate would be the way to go, in my very humble opinion. It has a larger back seat, trunk (with wrap around backrest) and armrests for the passenger. You can find a low mileage (but don't get hung on mileage - a Valk with 20 - 30 k is just getting broken in) for the same price range (8K) that the Honda dealer was asking for the yellow standard. There are folks that find deals all the time that can help you. Here in Louisiana, there is Hard 6 over in Lake Charles and a gentleman in Abita Springs that search for deals. Just ask and folks will see what they can do.
Without going into all the internal differences of the bikes, these are the main differences with the 3 models that were put out as a Valkyrie:
STANDARD: Set up as a standard motorcyle. Did not come with any type of hardbags or windshields.
This is what the dealer here in Lafayette was selling.
This is Willow's Standard. He has leather aftermarket bags on.

The Tourer is a Standard with Hard Bags on the side and a windshield. The gas tank and instrument panel is the same as a Standard.
This is Warlock (Mississippi) Tourer.

The Interstate has a larger gas tank, a full fairing up front. Electronic Speedometer, Speakers in the fairing, two headlights in the fairing, a bigger back seat, a trunk, armrests for the passenger, speakers (or you can add them in the armrest for the passenger), radio (connections for CB, etc) and radiator pods up front by the fairing.
This is Texas Ranger's Interstate.

And then there is the Supervalk that I ride. What a Supevalk means is an Interstate that since my wife doesn't ride, I went with an Interstate and put a solo rigging on it. I dropped the trunk to lower the center of gravity. I still get the advantages of the I/S such as the larger gas tank, beefed up springs, fairing, speakers, radio, etc etc......
That is the main differences in the 3 models.

Thank you Strider for the photos. I've been getting some on the job training on these Valks this weekend. The wife is totally sold on them so it looks like I'll be joining the brotherhood as soon as I locate an Interstate model and sell the Goldwing.
A dude came by tonight and said he'd let me know by noon tomorrow if he'll buy my Goldwing. It all comes down to a money source giving him the nod.
I live close by the Kart Ranch, so I can't be too far from you, Strider. We'll meet up soon, I'm sure.
Is there a local Valkyrie group here in the Lafayette area?
crawdad.

I live in Sundown (off of Morgan and Heart de Farm). We are almost neighbors! There is a group that has grown together out of Lafayette, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge and Hammond (and Mississippi) that ride together as much as possible.
Hard 6 over in Lake Charles and Warlock (in Mississippi) are like Valkyrie Wizards and keep our bikes running. They have lots of parts if you need them (you won't be left stranded).
Brother, I turn 50 this October, so we are about the same age. If you can meet us, we are meeting at the Chevron/McDonalds at the Scott/Cankton (exit 97 - the Harley Shop exit) to ride over to Hotglue's BBQ in Houston, Texas on Friday, March 30th. We are going to meet from 7 to 8 am and leave out at 8 sharp!
Come meet us if you get a chance. Heck, come over the BBQ if you get a chance!!!! If you have your wing or another ride (or you can ride sweep in a car), come ride with us. Leaving out on Friday and coming back on Sunday. I have posted the hotel that we are staying at here........
You will see HUNDREDS of Valkyries - or so. No matter how many Valks you see, it is gonna be a good time with some great folks, great food and some nice rides.

If you can make it to Hotglue's BBQ or any Valkyrie event, I think the thing you will find amazing is that it no longer is about the motorcycle, it is about the ride and the people. I don't know why the Valkyrie attracted a certain "kinda" person to it, but it did and DOES!
You will meet some great folks!!!! A little wilder than the standard Wing crowd but awesome folks, who share a laugh, share some wind and share LIFE! I have never met a person I didn't like riding the Valk. I know that is a broad statement but true! I have met family that I never knew I had!
Come if you can my friend!

I like those hard bags, Mr Bones. I believe those are Beetle Bags?
I won't be able to make the BBQ, Strider, but maybe I could be at the Chevron for the send off. I sure hope this dude comes through with the cash today.
I've seen Interstates that sell anywhere from $7999 to $14000. The tourer looks like it would be easy to customize too. I'm figuring you could get a trunk if you wanted to add one on.
Anyway, first things first, and that's to close the deal on this Goldwing of mine. Got to get ready for work so I'll check the site out tonight. Later. crawdad
