Well I am now scheduled for knee surgery on May 31st so I don't believe I can ride out to New York for Americade. However, I think I can drive my car out there and tailgate folks down the roads. I will have to see what my doctor says and what follow up appointments are needed. I want to make sure I am up and going for Arkansas so that is priority number 1......They say it can take from 4 dazes to four weeks to recover...and being 39 I hope it is 4 dazes........Good luck and the creek don't rise anymore down south....yikes....stop the rain in the midwest and bring it to the east and west.....amen.....

Had my left one replaced in 1998 "mine is a three part knee" hate to tell you this but was in the hospital for 3 days then to theapy for 3 months of work before I could walk with out a walker. The bad part was when the doctor told me no more motercyles as the knee may bend the wrong way. That is why I am on a Trike.

I had knee surgery 3 years ago when I was a young 40. Don't know what you are having done, but they said I was a fast healer b/c I was walking w/o crutches about 10 days after surgery. However, then I had about 10 weeks of rehab after that. I don't think it will be a 3 or 4 day ordeal by any means....:crap:

I was hoping to maybe take the train or fly out June 4th but if what some of ya say about recovery....I don't know if I will be going anywhere. Taking pain killers does not seem like the way to travel around driving. Buying any tickets or reserving a car is not such a good idea since they don't refund. Well, this is not sounding good right now, dang it!
Thanks for the well wishes always great to get.

Good luck with it Taz, I'm sure that all will go well. I had one of my knee surgeries at about your age, and I was limping around, and RIDING within 4-5 days.

Taz, I wouldn't rule anything out. Just wait and see - if it's something small they're going in and doing, you might be up and running fairly quick. I had a torn and separated meniscus - so not only did they have to cut the flap out and smooth out the depression, they had to take layers of the meniscus out where it had separated. I could walk around the house holding on to things the 2nd day, but it was several days before I could bend it without cursing a blue streak under my breath. Just go with the flow - just be sure your knee is able to hold your bike up if it leans that way!

Hope everything goes well and a seedy recovery, my shoulder surgery took a week just to start moving it again. After that with therapy it was much faster recovery. On the up side, just think of all the time you can devote to the VOA to share your knowledge and advice! You'll never really be alone. Take care, Charlie
