Hit the kill switch while my RPMs were up the other day and I watched the tach needle fall like a rock. Next thing I know the needle's pointing almost straight down (6:00-ish). When I start the bike the needle rotates clockwise and pegs on the wrong side of the zero pin. I swear it looks like the tach needle jumped the pin when I shut 'er down!! Are the I/S tachs sealed units or can I pop off the glass and lift the needle back over the pin where it oughta be?
Didn't realize how much I use my tach 'till it wasn't working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

It appears that you can get in there but it doesn't look like fun shocked.

Thanks PAValk for the exploded diagram. Once I got the inside fairing side panels off I had good access to the 4 bolts and collars that hold the instrument cluster in place. The worst part was figuring out how to disconnect the mondo electrical connector off the back. Mine's a '99 too so after 8 years the plastic was real brittle. Once the cluster was loose it was just 8 more screws from the back and I could lift the needle back over the pin.
Tomorrow I'll put it back together ans see if it works.

Thanks again,
Dave
