Hi,
I have a 99 tourer, and it seems awefuly cold blooded. I read the book, and it says cold start procedure is, 30 seconds with the choke on, and high idle around 1500 to 2000 rpm. That works fine, but if I take choke all the way off, after 30 seconds, it just blahs instead of revs. I need to run with some choke it seems, and as I get off on the highway I try take choke completly off asap. The bike works fine using the choke half ways, but it seems it takes 10 miles to get warmed up good, where the throttle is responsive like it should be. The throttle is responsive, running some choke, prior to the ten minute warmup, but not if follow procedures.
Do I have some blockage in my carbs? The low speed circuit, or something? Also this bike is as smooth as silk going down the highway, and doesn't miss a beat, but it seems slower speeds the exhaust note is not as smooth sounding, even though the engine seems smooth. Any help would be appreciated, it runs so darn nice after warm up at idle, and responsiveness, and touring, I hate to turn someone loose on the carbs if this may be characteristic, fearing might be a waist and possible mess something up.
