my bike has the ETC mod. to advance the timing. My question is just how much advance does it give? My bike seems to run best with the knob set about mid way I know it is advanced at that setting because as you turn the knob the RPM's go up. My question is how much advance is enough? I dont want to damage anything. If I remember right full advance with the ETC mod. is about 10 degrees.

how much timing you can safely run is based on whether your engine pings or not.  advance it til it pings and then back it off a little, if it isn't pinging, you are fine. if you want more advance you can switch to a higher octane fuel. DON'T allow it to ping, you will shorten the life of your engine, if in doubt, back it off a little more.
