Found a letter yesterday from a "Independent Audit Company" The letter had my Banks official heading. It asked me to verify that as of Sept 30th of this year my checking account balance was XXXXX. And if not to tell them in writing on the back of their sheet what exactly was incorrect!! They also wanted my signature to verify who I was if the info was incorrect. Seems to me they were fishing for my signature to make some checks. The real scary part was they indeed had my account # correct and the amount was within $1.05 of the total on that day!!! Went to my local bank today and canceled that account. The bank has no Idea how they got access to my account balance as I do not use online banking. My Bank is currently actively seeking the leak. As I told them when I walked in "You Guys have a problem" especially with the amount of senior citizens they provide services for. The bank rep told me everyday some older person comes in wanting to tell how they have struck it rich and need to withdraw good faith money. The bank reps are now wondering just how many of their customers have already been scammed! The scam artist also provided a prepaid envelope to send the info back in!! Careful people..They are out there waiting.

I can relate to what you said. I am retired and when I'm in a line to check out and I have to wait on the person in front of me while they write a check. It seems so archaic. Everything I do is done electronically.I wish I were about 20 years younger and could catch one of those cretins. There would be some vigilante justice.
