Anyone ever cut a windscreen down? My memphis Fats is the 21" model and much to tall. I was going to whittle it down a bit if I can. I havent worked with plastic so any in-put is welcomed. Thanks

If I were doing it I'd

Mark my line where I want to make the cut.  Tape along both sides with masking tape then make my cut using my Dremel, (a good jig saw or band saw should work also).

Then smooth the edges; emery paper fine grit sandpaper, or my Dremel barrel sander and polisher.

Plastics can crack (too fast) and melt (too slow, then crack) when being cut. Soapy water is a good lubricant for cutting.  Because of the cost of a new windscreen, you may want to have someone cut it for you who has experience and tools needed to prevent cracks.

I hope I'm not too late with your windshield cut.  I found a great way to make a cut line and keep very close to the stock contour.  Here goes; make your bike as upright and balanced as possible, cut a small piece of thin solid wire and make a loop at either end, make sure the distance between the loops is the amount you want to take off, one loop holds your marker, and the other loop holds a small screwdriver or anything long and skinny that will run along the edge of your windshield, now, keeping the wire as plumb as you can, run the screwdriver along one side of the windshield, up and over the windshield to the other side, all the time keeping the marker pressed on the shield.  It takes 2 hands to do this but it worked fabulous for me.  My mistakes; used to thick a marker (less accurate), used too fine a jigsaw blade (melted shield), and did it while I was supposed to be making supper (she had no sense of humor that week).  jr.

Since your post was back in July, I have to assume that you have completed it by now. If not or for others here are the two best links that i know that will help you in doing it right.
