Went to start my bike last night and just got a hard click, battery is new,and headlight is bright as can be.
looking for a honda oem part number for the selenoid.
All I can find is replacement parts that aren't honda.

I just fueled the bike before I parked it,and fuel is still right up to the top of the filler neck,so hydrolock is not the problem.

Dennis kirk is the only place I've found one.
Heads up guys,buy a spare.
Although I would wait to see if they send me the right part.
The hard catalog shows the correct part, but the website doesnt.
 Huh? Angry Sad :'(

Update guys it was hydrolock.Read on.

Good to know - it's a moderate drive for me to his warehouse in Rush City so I run up every so often for a look around. Did your just all of a sudden quit or were there some prior issues?

I've never had to replace anything but bodywork, gas, tires, and oil.
I was quite surprised when I heard the Clunk, when I turned the key.
In cars you usually get a dull click when the solenoid goes.
Hopefully The solenoid is the culprit, and not the starter or worse.

Anyone know if I can remove the starter, and test it by jumping the terminals somehow?
It's going to kill me to be down for a few days.
I just attended the louie run, here locally, and would have just about died, if it would have went down at an event with thousands of harleys.

Be sure to check the bolts are good and tight, even a new battery will not make good contact sometimes. Had this to happen to me, would have to get off remove the seat and retighten or move the cables a little more than once, just a ideal, good luck. later moose

I had ordered a pingel valve and was just to lazy to install it.
It doesnt take much fuel to hydrolock the valk.
I fueled up last night and the fuel was still almost to the top of the filler neck.
I pulled the plugs anyway, and found a small amount of fuel.
When the bike started,it spit fuel from the seam in the exhaust pipe.

Dont wait to replace your petcock!
The pingel was well worth the money.
Looks great, super smooth operation, and a great safety feature.

ok I'm confused.  Shouldn't the needle and seat in each of the carbs stop the fuel flow into the engine?  When the carb bowls are full, the floats should push the needle into the seat thus closing off further fuel from entering the carbs and getting down the intakes.  I think you must have bad needles and seats.

Stuck floats is more likely.

Yes Valker is right plus all it takes is a dust particle and the gas just keeps a flowing.

hope your bike is back up and running... that stinks!   You guys are scaring the pants off of me.

silly question:  Since y'all have me freaked out about this now;  could I just add a 12v selenoid into the line after the original petcock.  Id' get the selenoid that defaults to 'close' and opens upon receiving power.   This way I'd have 3 ways of preventing this problem (me closing petcock (or not), vacuum actuated, and an additional electrical actuated.

Any thoughts.  I called an RV place and the guy says 'You ride a Valkyrie?'.    He says he has sold about 70 of thes to Valk owners.   $31 shipped (and I'm sure it won't be a decorative item.

   sorry Dennis

I would just get in the habit of turning the petcock off.
After about a week,it becomes second nature.

This is two inexpencive insurances

1) Pingel Valve http://www.pingelonline.com/powerflo_1311_vacuum.htm

2) Shut-Off Valve http://www.dan-marc.com/79-afc11112.html

you're good.   Believe it or not, it was dan-mart that I talked to.     Are you one of the valk owners that has the electrical fuel valve?   If so, any adivise on where to install?   Up high would keep it hidden (a good thing), but lower would put it closer to the carbs.

    Thanks,

I have installed the Pingel Valve but not the Shut Off Valve.
I ordered it just a few days ago, so it will be here in Norway in about two week.
When I find a good place to mount it I will take some pictures and for the Tech. section on my web site.

It was reported two Hydrolock in Germany last week and one on the VRCC Tech. Board this week.
Be aware of this filthiness  Huh?
