I ordered a pingle fuel valve for my Valk. Does it work with the stock size gas line? Also I ordered the non vacuum model and is there anything special that has to be done to use this model.

It works perfectly with the original fuel line.
I just plugged my original vacuum line with a screw, and tucked it in under the tank.
Bike runs great.

Be sure to remember that you now have about 10-15 miles for a reserve with the Pingel. The stock valve gives about a gallon, the Pingel is about a quart and a half. I carry a one liter MSR fuel bottle in my saddlebag to give me another 10 miles.

I'm installing a Pingle non-vac petcock along with a desmog kit right now.  Should I install the Pingle so it is controlled from the left, as OEM, or the right.  It seems like it will be a reach since there is no extension like the OEM setup so I was wondering if it's any better (or possible) to control from the right?

Tks,

Bob

I converted the oem petcock to non-vacuum by pulling the vacuum side of the oem valve off and replacing it with a blank piece of aluminum. Total cost of $1.87 and I can still use the oem stem etc... cool

Disabling the vacuum function would not have solved the problems I was having.  Anyway, I just payed big dough for a Pingle and I'm sure as hell going to use it!  Smiley

MSR fuel bottle arrived today.  Largest I could get was 30oz v. 1 liter (33 oz).  Not that an additional 10 miles will really make a difference in NV... anyhoo.

Do these bottles vent when warm?

No. Absolutely airtight.

If the stock control is removed it is easy from the left side, even while riding.  If you have the engine hanger covers, it is not easy.  Hoser

"Shiny" desmog kit from Red Eye.  Also bought a few extras from them to plug add'l vacuum pipes and a tool to adjust pilot screw.  See CA desmog debrief.

On my 1998 Valk, I discovered that the factory valve was leaking in the off position when I had the tank off the bike when changing the air filter.  Fortunately, the float needles didn't leak.  Put manual Pingels on both Valks.
