hello people...i've been on the darkside for about a yr now and i love it....the specs say go with a 205/55/16 and i decides to go with a slightly narrower tire and with with a 205/60 i think and it does great....and yes the first few hundred miles was a little different but after the side walls got broke in it's just like a regular tire for me now... but if i carry a heavy person on the back it still rubs on the right side.....so next time i'm going to go with a little taller and little narrower still to get away from the drive shaft....thx god my g/f is only about 105 lbs....lol.... but just wanted to say hi and hope everybody had a great 2008 summer of rides......and i love the darkside.......but you have to check with some insurences they will not cover a car tire.......and they say it out right......i've got about 18,000 on mine as of now...and an avon venom on the front.....and it still looks almost new still.....thx charles
I was replying to this one, sorry.

in my experience, running 205-55 & 205-65 , the 65 is wider, Had to do the nut cage & shim the fender mount to
get clearance with the 205-65-16, The 205-55 cleared without any modification rolleyes

<edited>.. but if i carry a heavy person on the back it still rubs on the right side.....so next time i'm going to go with a little taller and little narrower still to get away from the drive shaft...

..thx charles

I had the same problem with my Goodyear Triple Tread 205R60/16. What I found was the bolt associated with the nut cage that I removed from the right side needed to be shortened. I cut it off so only one thread stuck out the back side of the nut. The rub went away.

Since I have placed a ct on my sweet girl, I have taken a trip, two up this time.  My wife had no idea of Way I have done.  It wasn't till we were driving home that I informed her of my switch to the dark side.  See was not at all aware of any hangers.  I may need to add a few pounds of air, Felt a little spongier.  Other than that,, tire performed flawlessly.  Corners were smooth, no wobbles, handled great.  I am totally convinced that I will ride on the dark side from here on out, despite all those ney sayers.  i keep getting, That will never work, then I ride, two up this time and wave. thanks for all your insight and miles that you dark siders have written and I have learned.  Safe riding to all fellow Valkers.. Ok, I went to the DarkSide yesterday (Hankook Ventus HRII 205-55R-16 90H, Treadware 340, Traction Rating A, Temperature Rating A, ... (edited)

Front tire is a Avon Venom. Seemed ok when I had an Avon on the rear.... but can't remember if it responded this way.

I had similar problems with my '99 Cruiser. It went away when I took the Venom off the front and installed a Metzler 880 ME, lowered the rear tire pressure to 26 psi and gave the tire about 500 miles to break in.
