I have just installed a Bridgestone Potenza P205/65/16 HR.  1 or 2 up, when I make left hand turns, the tire rubs the drive shaft housing.  Since it only does it on left turns, I was thinking about just running it since its not that bad.  But after second thought I ordered the Bridgestone P195/60/16 HR Blizzak WS-60.  The tire shop had to special order it and says it will be in, in a couple of weeks. There just aren't very many tires available in a 195/60 or 65. By running the 195/60 still gives me about the same diameter as the stock tire, just a little thinner.   This tire should allow me the clearance needed without any rub and give me the peace of mind knowing that my tire might blow at any given time from the thin spot in the sidewall.  Has anybody had this problem and just let it rub?
I had 1 guy tell me to take a small grinder and cut out the area where the tire rubs to gain the needed clearance then weld it back up.  I think that is going a little extreme for me.  To bad I am having to do this 2 times to get it right.  But I do fill that the additional miles I'll get from the car tire will make it worth the trouble.

Have you looked at the inside of your swing arm with the tire removed and is actualy rubbing there? my 205-60 Good Year was showing rub marks on the rh side wall, but it was the forward captured nut on the fender rail that was rubbing when suspension was compressed, either from bumps or hard cornering. nut cage and washer mod cured it. I run 34 psi two up. I've run the same tire on my I/S and Standard, only needed the washer mod on the I/S

I removed the nut cover before installing the tire.  I'm sure that its rubbing on the outside edge.  I can see tire shards build up on the drive shaft housing and can see the rub on the outside of the tire.  I have read some where on the net that this not very common but it has happened to others.  The one I read about, cut the housing and repaired it to gain the clearance.  I'm not going to do that.  I will just go to the 195/60, this will cure the problem, but thanks for the input.

What tire pressure are you running?
maybe upping the pressure might flatten the side wall somewhat?

I run the Bridgestone Turanza EL400 195/60R16H and it is great with lots of clearance everywhere.  Next I might try a 195/70 if I can find one.
