I have a pair of three year old Tour Master Cortech boots that are on their last legs. They've stood up pretty well considering that I am real hard on footwear in general and have ridden a good 20K miles with them. They are also comfortable enough to wear in general and don't melt onto hot exhaust pipes, like our IS Cobra 6x6s. I'd like to find a replacement boot that will stand up to the use, in particular the heat resistant soles, but is more of a "vintage style" or "engineers" boot. Any recommendations?

Harley Davidson makes excellent boots that really hold up. There newest model has a shift pad and a heal that is replaceable via a hex bolt. Carolina makes great boots too

No I wear tennis shoes daily - everyday for riding, walking, working and golf - last about 6 months.

I have the Tour Master Response SC Road Boots, about 6 months old. Definately not the style you are looking for. They are ultra comfortable but I have doubts about how long tour masters last. Sounds like you got lots of use out of yours. I was walking around in them a few weeks ago when I hear a pop. 2 inches of stitching on the outside of the left boot pulled away. The boots have never been scraped on the sides or anything. I think I have rotten thread on that side. I sent the company an email asking them if this is typical. About a week later they replied indicating I need to take them back to the store I bought them from as the dealers should be contacting customer service after they have made an evaluation. I'm the type of person that goes to the manufacturer when I have an issue. I don't go to the store regardless of policy. So I got some heavy waterproof thread, a big needle and needlenose and doublestitched the whole left side.
My out of warranty canon digital camera died recently. Called canon, they emailed me a free shipping label, and they fixed it for free because it was a recall type of issue. But while it was in there they also replaced the broken memory card door at no charge. I know who I'm buying my next camera from. Not so sure about who gets my coin for boots anymore.

Sorry about the lame attempt at humor. Tennies won't work for me. I'm the kind of rider who isn't comfortable riding unless I'm wearing at least a helmet, riding jacket, long paints and high topped boots, and as I noted before, I'm real hard on footwear. While I've been satisfied I got good value for money with my current boots, I'd like something more durable, especially in the soles. The soles have great heat resistance and don't melt onto hot exhaust like a lot of other boots do and the tops are still in good shape. Unfortunately the soles have worn through to my socks and can't be replace.

Yea I have some habits that just can't be broken. I would shy away from Harley or anything MC brand name specific as your paying for name not neccessaraly quality. Find out which Mylasian or Korean company makes the boots and just buy from them. Red Wings are make right here in Red Wing Minnesota and are pretty good also.

Have had good luck with Sidi boots, own several pairs and usually wear them all day at work. No troubles after several years of use. One review of them: http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-boots/sidi/on-road-boots/
