Hey All

I tried searching to see if there was a topic already and couldn't find one. Judging from some of the helmet-related comments I've read, many don't wear helmets anyway, so this won't apply.

However, do you all just use the helmet lock that comes with the Valk? What do you do when you have two helmets? Has anyone tried the Kury bar end locks?

Maybe the valk just looks so BA that nobody would dare touch a helmet sitting on sissy bar anyway...

We picked up some extensions for my IS and it made it a lot easier to use the locks under the trunk.

I have used the stock one on my Tourer, but I usually just leave it over the speedo/tach since most thieves don't want a plain, white helmet. Never had one stolen in 42 years.

I usually don't lock up my helmet either, but when my wife and I spent the day at the coast, my wife borrowed my daughters helmet, so we bought a  padlock, and locked them to the backrest.the under the seat helmet lock is a joke.

I have the Kury bar end locks.  Use the right one for one helmet, but not sure about using the left one.  If you leave the bars turned left when parking, that helmet would hit the tank.

I too thought the stock helmet lock on my Standard was a PITA, so I have since installed the Helmet Guardian.  Here's the link to a product description, I purchased the chrome model:

http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=9&manufacturer_ID=281&product_ID=8647&sblid_name=Sport_Touring_USA_Helmet_Guardian_with_Locks

You can Google it also and find many vendors.  I carry a short cable in my bag that I can run through my jacket sleeve and lock to the Guardian also.  I like that it's not very noticeable, and also chrome!  Grin Grin

Your factory helmet lock is under the seat.  Use your ignition key to unlock your seat where you should find a short cable that has a rubber sleeve looped under a hook.  Take one end of this cable and loop it through the D-ring of your helmet.  Hook this end back onto the hook and resecure your seat, now your helmet is locked to your bike.

I bought my Helmet Guardian back in June with no problems, and it is a chrome one.  Maybe try calling one of the vendors that advertise the black one and see about a chrome version.

Here's a couple links from Google:

Just an update-- I called one of the vendors in CA and asked about the chrome helmet guardian. I was told that they do not currently have any and that the manufacturer could not give them a date that they would be available again. So, they have disappeared from websites for the time being. Sad...

Yeah, I seem to remember there being a delay from the manufacturer due to the parts coming from Mexico.  Mine was on back order, but only for a short time and was delivered within 3 weeks from ordering.

I had a very bad delay with items from Formotion...... Angry Angry  Finally got what I ordered, but never again.

I like the Kuryakyn helmet locks.  Seem to work well for me but I don't leave my bike alone in the city.  http://www.hondadirectlineusa.com/stores/product.asp?pid=592&str=2&ID=405767067
