Seems a tad too high still at 8K, although you can't argue that is probably one of the nicest, cleanest, low mileage tourers out there. I'd guess 7K with no new tires or 7.5K with new tires would be about right, but what the heck, what is 1 grand when it comes to riding one of the best cycles out on the market still. If I had a need for a 2nd Valk, yours would be at the top of my list. Agree, Dunlop stock tires if they are original is time for a change ASAP. I had only the 2nd set of Dunlop D206's on my I/S put on I think in 2005 by previous owner and ran only 9K miles in that time until this spring when new Avon Cobra tires put on. 5-6 years, in my opinion since others say less years than that, is about the life of the tire regardless of low miles depending on how the bike is stored also. There is a 4 digit number on the sidewall of the tire and the last 2 is the year mfgd. If says like 02 or 03 last 2 numbers or older years, get it replaced since not worth a blowout. I got the new Avons cheap at
www.jakewilson.com and had a local cycle shop install and let me tell you, the difference is amazing although I am not too hard of a rider anyways. The old tires were cupping, front tire had hairline cracks in between the ribs all over, not much tread left, and everytime I went over larger bumps in the road, the hard front tire popped as if it blew out and jarred right thru the handlebars due to age of rubber. How does it ride over rough roads with those tires still on?
