Well, I finally did it. I wore out the MC tire on the trip to LA and it's time to replace it. I opted for a Goodyear TT.
I found the tire to be quite noticeable at first, but now I really don't even notice it.
I have run the psi from 30 to 24 to 30 to 36 and now at 34. Not totally sure if it is the psi, or 500 miles or both but it does feel much better now.
It is quite obvious to me that there is some major traction back there even in the peg scraping turns. Not that I look forward to riding in the rain, but I can only imagine that the confidence of the traction will be paramount as opposed to the now minimal traction that the MC tire gives.
So far, I see no reason to return to a MC tire - I like the traction that this tire gives and the confidence of knowing that it is there if I need it. Now that I have been getting acquainted with the CT, it's like learning anything else, second nature after a little bit.cool

I like it!!

Charles

Now that your getting used to it.  Go out somewhere where there isnt any traffic and work up to some real hard stops using both front and rear brakes.  The damn thing will stop on a dime.

Indeed - it may even throw you off the bike!

I will need to do some hard stops and see how it goes (do I need to install a seat belt).
You may think that I'm crazy but before I change the rear or front tire, I always practice with them to include skidding the rear at 60 mph and also locking up the front (not at that speed though).  shocked

I need to figure out how to put some pictures on here now!! huh

What can I say,
I likes it!!! cool

No, I dont think your crazy for doing that.  It makes good sense to me.  I bet you will find it hard to get it to skid now ;)  If it acts anything like my Yokohama Advan A048, it wont skid.  Just build up to it slow, dont try to lock it down right off the bat.  It may throw ya LOL.  I swear, ya can go from 55 to a dead stop in like 25 or 30 feet on clean pavement when using both brakes while driving straight.  Its a freaky fast stop.  I havent thrown a tape on it, but I believe those numbers will pan out.  You can do that rough stuff on the straights, but on corners, you had better treat it like a bike tire.

If it's pushed hard enough, my Michelin Primacy will skid, but it's almost a straight-line skid as opposed to the normal back-wants-to-be-in-front skid you get from a MC tire.

This is one characteristic I really like about the tire.
